Smoking Kills’ main passion is to bring back what were the awe inspiring stage shows and sound of the 80’s Rock scene, bring it back to life and bring it back to our generation’s attention. Depth, integrity and love go into all aspects of writing their songs, ranging from song structure, harmonies to the stage show. Behind all this Smoking Kills just wish to have fun on stage and enjoy what they do, which is portrayed in there interaction with the crowd, which in turn creates an intimacy between the band and the fans.
The constant reference to the many influences has led to a whole range of different people sitting up and taking notice of Smoking Kills, and being in their early 20’s there is still a lot of time for improvement on what is already a flashback to the huge music scene of the 80’s.
2007 saw Smoking Kills hit the studio for their first recording, recording three contrasting songs on an E.P which showed a diverse side to the band. At their first gig they took a batch of 50 Cds and by the end of the night they were sold out, and have since sold at a steady flow.
2008 brings a much tighter band with their second E.P expected at the end of April, and plans for an album and tour later in the year. Being accepted on to the Glastonbudget Festival is proof that all the hard work over the past year has paid off, bringing confidence and drive to the band to carry on “Rockin N‘ Rollin”.
2009 for Smoking Kills brought out the "Not A Hero" EP with the title track featured on "The Big Night Out Chairty CD". Smoking Kills also returned to Glastonbudget, but this time to headline the main new acts tent and were even treated to people walking up to them asking for photos and signatures over the weekend from people who had been the previous year. Smoking Kills are looking at gigging and writing more music during the rest of 2009, and 2010 looks to be when the first Smoking Kills album will be recorded, stay tuned folks!
