Sean Na'auao is a talented singer, musician, composer, producer that continues to work "outside the envelope" in the multi-faceted musical world.As a singer and musician, he has firmly established a successful island music solo career with such CD releases as "Giving Something Back," "Hawaiian Living," "Fish & Poi" (which earned him a prestigious Nä Hökü Hanohano award for Island Contemporary Album of the Year), "Homegrown Hawaiian," and "Neutralize It" (which garnered another Nä Hökü Hanohano award for Song of the Year "Ka Pilina"). Sean's island songs continue to set benchmarks for today's contemporary musicians and include "Drop Baby Drop", "Li Hing Hula", "Punani Patrol" and "Fish & Poi."
"Neutralize It," released in 2000, included several songs that paved the way for a new musical journey for Sean, drawing upon his deep-rooted feelings of Hawai'i. His unique arrangements of traditional and original Hawaiian songs now set Sean's name among Hawaiian music greats. In 2001 Sean shows how truly talented he is by taking the process a step further. Sean released two very different CDs on the same day - "Holomua," an all-Hawaiian CD which received a Nä Hökü Hanohano award for Haku Mele, and "Progression," which continues his island music/reggae popularity and which received a Nä Hökü Hanohano Award for Best Reggae Album of the Year.
As a owner of Poi Pounder Records, his producer talent have guided a number of island artists including Three Plus, Darren Benitez, Baba B, Robert Kekaula, Ho'onu'a, Mino' aka and new talented groups like Kahiau, TOA and Uprising. The successful "Still Pounding" CD, a compilation of Poi Pounder's best musical groups, was released in 2001. Always wanting to do a Christmas release, "A Kanaka Christmas" was released in 2002 and highlights the sweet voice of the multi-talented Na'auao.
