Hi Garry Featherstone aka snatchbag. Why snatchbag I thought it was a better name than stolen tom the band my mate jason is in aka shagpile, I thought of it so kept it.
Was listening to music early on. First song I remember being inspired by was Sherry by Frankie Valley and the four seasons. How does he hit those notes is beyond me.
Being a teenager in a pit village in Northumberland was to say the least un inspiring for musical talent but thanks to the club my parents ran I would nip in and have a crack on the piano and drums on a saturday afternoon before I got caught and the dust kicked of my arse.
My musical tastes swayed from ELO and sort of soft rock and I swaggered into the agression and freshness of a young chap called Paul Weller. The Jam and the songs crafted made me listen to what he was saying about us. Thatchers Britain was a strange place to be, the punk songs around I did not understand, but weller spoke to a generation.
I was asked to sing in a band when I was sixteen doing Jam covers (naturally) , bought a bass guitar and had a spank of it. . Three gigs and it was over but I had my taste of stage fear and it was good.
Well thats where things stopped, bought a guitar to collect dust under the bed as most do for 20 year and then my best friend died of cancer in 98. Devastated I vowed to learn the guitar a lot better and do a gig to raise money for charity and with the help of guitar teachers and friends of mine (credit to Jason) and did just that.
That went well for a couple of years until you realise, which is sad that some people don't care unless it has happened to them and when a charity gig was booked and only a few came decided I had had enough for now.
Currently gigging with the clear blue skies fraternity which is fun and have been asked to do a few gigs of my own in the future. Currently singing songs about fathers rights as we have none, (parental alienation) stereophonics, travis, Rod Stewart, Bowie Oasis and of course Paul Weller.
Thanks for looking at my Bio and I wish you happiness in your life. X
