Snafu (sna-foo) Slang n. 1. A chaotic or confused situation 2. Situation Normal All Funked Up 3. An Indie Funk-Punk band from Orlando, FL

SNAFU has long been known around Orlando for their raw passion and a style that fuses a Punk Attitude with a unique blend of Southern Rock, Funk, Blues, and Reggae. Drawing from the eclectic energy and vibe of the Sunshine State, SNAFU slides effortlessly between genres and influences, with an addictive sound that makes you move and compelling lyrics that make you think.

With the 2003 release of Krumpt, SNAFU first exposed fans to their deeper side. Conceived out of their frustration with the Post-9/11 political climate, Krumpt was described as “an insightful bit of rock ‘n’ roll edginess that dares to have a brain and a concept” (Bing Futch, ink19.com). Thematically, Krumpt was about all that SNAFU felt was wrong with society; Corruption, Greed, Dishonesty, Intolerance, and War. Driving bass lines, memorable choruses, and aggressive rhythms delivered powerful lyrics which left audiences to ponder the chilling question, “Where do we go from here?”

The boys’ follow-up album, Outside the Collective Hive, is the answer to that question. Hive is SNAFU’s declaration of independence for the human spirit. Hidden between their bass-infused grooves and infectious beats, is a message which begs audiences to “Step Outside” commercialism, despair, and conformity and seek the fulfillment which comes from true liberation of the soul.

True to its theme, the recording of Outside The Collective Hive was completely uninhibited and free from the constrictive presence of a major label. Hive was born in a storage-shed turned recording studio, using a multi-track recorder that the band found online and purchased second-hand. But the explosive sound, which they and producer Theo Schmidt created, is nothing short of professional. With Hive, SNAFU proves that passion for music and a renegade spirit are still the only ingredients necessary to create great rock album. With its vanguard style, unrelenting lyrics, and unconventional production, Outside the Collective Hive is truly a Garage-Band Epic.

The band hopes their upcoming tour can be just as homegrown as its recording. Says singer Phillip Bonanno, “We hope our music makes people happy and, if they like it, that they’ll pass it on to a friend. The success of Hive isn’t dependant on corporate marketing- its going to be a totally grassroots effort. Will it work? Well… that’s really up to the people”.

Since the release of "Hive" fans enjoyed to a blowout CD release party, cruising through O-Town on the infamous SNAFU Party Bus, participating in three all-volunteer music video shoots, and SNAFU's now infamous "F! The Man Fest" in March.
