Ní Gaeilgeoirí amháin a mbíonn suim acu sa Ghaeilge. Le ceithre bhliain anuas tá Seachtain na Gaeilge i mbun tionscnaimh shuimiúil, shamhailtigh – is é sin na dlúthdhioscaí SnaG ’05, Ceol ’06, Ceol '07 agus Ceol '08. Ceithre chnuasach d’amhráin le traiceanna ó ceoltóirí móra le rá cosúil le Bell X1, Mundy, the Corrs, Declan O'Rourke, the Sawdoctors, the Frames cuid acu aistrithe ó Bhéarla, cuid eile cumtha sa teanga náisiúnta. Is léir uathu siúd go bhfuil grá na teanga ag leathnú i measc cheoltóirí móra le rá na hÉireann. Ní hí an Ghaeilge máthairtheanga fhormhór na mbannaí ach ghlac siad páirt toisc go bhfuil suim acu sa teanga agus inár gcultúr. Chomh maith leis sin, chonaic siad deis chun cabhrú le na carthanachtaí Concern agus Barnardos agus thug siad a gcuid ama saor in aisce ionas go rachadh gach brabús ó na halbaim ar fheabhsú cúrsaí oideachais sa Mhósaimbíc nó chun cabhrú le páistí ar mhíbhuntáiste in Éirinn.
Chun aitheantas a bhaint amach do cheol as Gaeilge, iarraimis ar dhaoine na dlúthdhioscaí seo a cheannach agus ceist a chur ar na stáisiúin raidió na traiceanna is fearr libh a sheinm chomh minic agus is féidir. Má tá smaointe agat faoin gceol nó tuairimí agat faoi conas an dlúthdhiosca a fheabhsú i mbliana, cuir scéal chuig ceol@snag.ie. Freisin, má cheapann tú gur féidir leat cabhrú linn in aon slí trí, mar shampla, fógraíocht a dhéanamh i scoileanna, ógchlubanna nó ollscoileanna ná bíodh leisce ar bith ort teagmháil a dhéanamh linn. Scaip an scéal agus bain taitneamh as an gceol!

It is not just Irish speakers who have an interest in the language. For the past four years Seachtain na Gaeilge have undertaken an interesting and imaginative project – the CDs Snag ’05, Ceol ’06, Ceol '07 and Ceol '08. Four music compilations with tracks from famous artists such as Bell X1, Mundy, the Corrs, Declan O'Rourke, the Sawdoctors, the Frames, the Coronas some translated from English, others written in our native tongue. It is evident from this that love for the language is spreading among some of Ireland’s best known musicians. Irish is not the primary language of most of these acts but they took part because of an interest in our culture. As well as that they gave their time free of charge to ensure that all profit goes to charity (Concern and Barnardos)
To focus attention on music in Irish, we ask people to buy these CDs and to ask radio stations up and down the country to play your favourite songs from it as often as possible. If you have new ideas for the CD and how to improve it please contact ceol@snag.ie. Also, if you feel you can help us in any way by for example spreading the word in your school, youth club or university, don’t hesitate to contact us! We hope you enjoy the music.

I'm not sure what part of the world you are in at the mo, but just letting you know I'm doing a gig in the Cobblestone this Thursday (24th). It's a benefit gig for Jerry Holland, a Cape Breton fiddler who was diagnosed with bone cancer, so all support greatly appreciated. Please pass the word:-)
Thanks for the add! We are sound engineering students in Dublin and interetsed in working with trad/folk/roots musicians. Hav a listen to the track on our myspace and let us know what you think?! All the Best Martin & Darren @ DeadGoodSounds
