Free Myspace Cursors What is Snail Records? A young, indeed very young, record company that has been established in March 2002. Who are we? A small bunch of people that have a common love: the music that has it roots in the region where it is created, that preserved it's original identity, that did not loose it's authenticity by giving in to the enticement of commerce and mass consumption.
Great words, but we know we can make them come true. Before we decided to establish our own label, we gathered experience, technical and musical, in several styles of music. For the near future we restrict ourselves to the music of the Balkan, especially Gypsy music. But the contacts are there to produce records of astonishing performances of artists from the East Europe, the Levant , the Middle East and Africa
We also strive for a high quality production and have the means - a good ear, knowledge, experience, endurance and self criticism - to achieve this goal. But judge for yourself: check out our albums!
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
