Tis Deev [ON TOUR]'s Interests
General
Well... Bass and Films is what my life is based around really.. Not a woman needer kinda dude, friends are brill but in small doses and I'm happiest when relaxed.. My main intrests in life are to become a pretty nifty bassist and to be a film director jus' like the very dude behind this peice of work.. you may have heard of him:
But we all know I'll be a media teacher who plays bass in his spare time..
Music
This guy is my absolute hero on bass guitar, his unorthodox style and sound made him stand out and his technical ability made him shred bass like a bitch!! here's a collection of his best stuff:
And I like quite a wide range of music, but not much things new.. I think Buckcherry are the best band to come out in about 20 years, but other than that my music taste stays in the 70's and 80's.. Such legends as Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Jimi Hendrix, Angus Young (AC/DC), The Eagles, Guns n' Roses, Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Lynard Skynard, Pearl Jam and Wolfmother kinda define my taste in rock music, but I also like the OLD punk.. not this new shite about american teenagers moaning.. I mean the FUCK THATCHER kinda punk.. Ramones, Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, Anti-Nowhere League etc.. and my absolute love is REAL music, geniuses such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Johan Sebastian Bach and Mike Oldfield really do show the rest of the bands how to do it..
Movies
Well as a media student.. this could take a while...
My FAVOURITEST film ever is Reservoir Dogs by Quentin Tarantino.. cos he's just too cool.. and he's a chuffing BRILL director as seen in Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill etc.. I also love Clockwork Orange by Stanley Kubrick cos that's too clever.. and there's other works of genius such as Trainspotting by Danny Boyle and Fight Club by David Fincher.. but then I have a weak spot for the odd horror or two.. 28 Weeks Later, Saw, Last House On The Left, Day Of The Dead, Misery, original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hills Have Eyes to say the least.. another of my loves is J-horror.. them guys know how to do it.. Ichi The Killer and Marebito are just amazing.. But then my Tim Burton collection has gotta come into it.. his dark fairytale world is one of my favourite places to be.. There's not many films I own that don't involve some wierd twisted mind state (Fear And Lothing In Las Vegas) or some inhuman torture (Deliverance) or some form of face eating (Land Of The Dead).. And I'm a HUGE follower of the cult classics such as Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop Of Horrors, Videodrome, A Scanner Darkly, Dead Alive by Peter Jackson etc..
All good stuff..
Television
I don't watch much TV nowadays.. it's all a load of shite to be honest.. all this "reality" shite which has more editted scripting than yer average soap.. Actually I CHUFFING LOATHE Big Brother.. How's about we turn off the camera's and not tell the contestants?.. THEN instead of voting people out.. we kill one off in a different, gruesome japanese way every week?.. NOW THAT'S WATCHABLE!!!! Anywho back to TV.. comedies aren't funny anymore.. whatever happened to Monty Python and Tommy Cooper?.. Even Shameless (my favourite TV Program) has turned into a soap in it's last series.. but before that David Threlfall did an amazing job as Frank Gallagher in that Channel 4 style drama.. I enjoy old TV quite a lot actually.. things like The Young Ones and Bottom are hilarious with a side of Gladiators for all the family.. and Biker Mice From Mars is the greatest cartoon.. ever..
Books
I'm currently reading the works of Franz Kafka.. (that suprised ya didnt it?) ... well the reason is i've been in "In The Penal Colony" which he wrote n was adapted into a play.. which i really enjoyed being in.. hadta be sinister and sick and twisted.. who said i was acting?.. but yeah i'm reading Franz Kafka.. the only other book i've read is.. erm.. does porn count?
oh also my mother has written three books.. three quid each.. full of funny stories about her life.. brill..
Heroes
Well Cliff Burton obviously... he's my idol... except he was the only member of MetallicA to ever do drugs... but ah well he made MetallicA good so wha the hey?... since he died MetallicA became crap... all thanks to Jason fricken Newstead... what a tit... playing with a plectrum on bass for a start... and then ripping off the opening riff of Cliff's peice du resistance Pulling Teeth in "his" My Friend Of Misery shite... ghawd... but hopefully Rob Trujillo is gonna save them and write some good stuff... if not I'm hunting him down...
Also (strange as it may seem) my old drama teacher Master Paul Caputa... he's a brill actor i've seen him in quite a few things and he roolz!... plus he's scottish which jus adds to the rockin'ness! he's a brill guy n a good mate...
In acting sense I idolise David Threlfall.. i've seen him in live stage performance not just playing Frank in Shameless.. and he did this monologue which REALLY drilled into your emotions and twisted your head.. he actually scared me.. it was absolutley amazing.. best stage actor i've ever seen.. if i could do monologues like that i'd be excessivley happy..
My favourite part in any play is The Narrator in Blood Brothers.. we keep seeing this one dude do it and he does it too good.. the hairs stand up on your neck every time he enters the stage.. ghawd i wish i could do that..
Oh and Billy Sheehan.. wanna play bass like that SWINE.. seen him live and he did a bass solo which was almost orgasmic.. swine.. i think he's the best bassist alive.. he pure rocks.. In another sense Bach is one of my heroes cos he's just amazing at bass lines even tho he was around before the bass guitar was invented.. he calls it a Cello... but he bleddy rocks at it i can tell ya that..
Then in career it gotta be Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino for making films which are frowned upon by Hollywood but still keep going and kicking ass!!
and for the record.. Spiderman is my favourite super-hero..

Erm.. Everyone I've ever admired is either dead or is probably an asshole.. Phil Lynott, Hendrix, Cliff Burton, Jaco Pastorious etc.. But I'd love to meet/work with Tim Burton or Quentin Tarantino.. that'd be fricken awesome..
And of course I've still gotta meet King Lizard.. This is the reason why:
