The Snake the Cross the Crown played/slept/ate/worried/hoped in a single house for four years. Some worked the 6a.m. shift at a corporate bookstore. One sold groceries, once giving Paul Hogan the wrong Marlboros. All of them loved music and each other. They carpooled in a big white diesel van, which was very loud and very spacious. Their half ton of equipment had made a habit of staying set up in the garage.
It was the first time any of them had lived in their own house, the first year they had ever handled gas/water/electric bills, the first time they wrote music collaboratively, and it was the first time they played a show as The Snake The Cross The Crown. They were all from Alabama, they all missed Waffle House, and they all moved to Santa Barbara, California to play music.
I just got my dvd today here in Mexico, and I just have to tell you it's absoulutely amazing. I wish i had seen you live, but this really helped. If you every tour again and play in texas i will be there. You are truly one of the best bands I've heard in years, and i just know I'll keep listening to cotton teeth until I'm old.
Watched the carousel of sound last night. Thank you very much for sharing that with us, and the amazing music you create. I have seen you twice, and am scared that I will not see you again. Please continue to make music.
Money and fame is not what defines anyone as rockstars. It's your record in my cd player for the last five years of my life that does it. 'You can only do so much, but you do as much as you can.' Thank you for always being with me even when you were away.
I just finished watching the dvd and literally the hair on my arms is standing up.
I hope you guys know, there are people who's lives you've touched with your music, and I don't even have the words to describe the feeling I get when I put on "Cotton Teeth." It will forever be one of the most beautiful and profound records I have ever listened to.
I just ordered my dvd. Straight to Mexico :) i really look forward to it. also bought a poster while i was there :D thank you for such an inspiring and honest music.
Regardless of future endeavors, Cotton Teeth has had a profund effect on my life and will always be one of the best albums ever made. You guys truly created a masterpiece. Me and two friends drove down to T.T. the Bears to see you guys sandwiched between two crappy bands and it was fantastic. Best of luck.
On the threshold of eternity changed my life when i heard you first perform it. I am in college now and i can remember listening to it when i first started high school. Seen you guys live several times, Glass house show was truly truly truly the best thing i have ever seen with all the drums at the end of threshold of eternity.
