Snakeskin are from Nottingham in the east mdlands of the UK who are determined to give the public something fresh from the dreary manufactured bands that litter the music industry today. By mixing elements of 80s LA rock with early British metal and adding in our own unique blend of rock n roll into the mix we create a live show of full on in your face rock n roll that can only trully be appreciated by being at front of the crowd yourself.
REVIEW IN SANDMAN MAGAZINE OF SNAKESKIN LIVE AT JUNKTION 7, NOTTIGHAM SUPPORTING RED LIGHT RIPPERS + THE HIGH SOCIETY
This is first time Ive caught Snakeskin playing this side of town. All Outta Love was a great start heavy, loud and nasty which seemed to hit well with the crowd. A few people made the Headrush comparison, which to some extent maybe Id go with. There are indeed some similarities between these two bands; though Snakeskin follows the more rough around the edges approach sounding dirtier and more like heavy metal punk.
Two classics Cat Woman and Ready To Rock are featured in tonights set and are good crowd pleasers. Definitely worth keeping because easily identified back to these guys and do them much credit. Finishing with The One again another great song, a ballad that boasts some awesome hooks, vocals and all-round talent. Snakeskin are a band full of promise and potential.
"The childlike appearance of newly acquired 'Snakeskin' vocalist Richard Wilkinson completely throws you off course when the guy opens his mouth. Many faces had the same expression 'where the xxxx did that come from?' Something like being hit in the eye with a brick, 'Snakeskin' rock like fuck! With a setlist of original and instantly infectious songs, there's a hint of Zodiac Mindwarp and at many times Rich's vocals are reminiscent of Phil Lewis from the mighty LA Guns. Adding a fantastic ballad to the set, 'The One' truly shows off the talent of vocals, musicians and some excellent lyrics. There's not one still body in the building."
