Jay is one of my favorite Memphis songwriters. I was lucky enough to live with him some years back (and constantly get woken up by his eighteen different bands practicing directly below my room). In all ways, he was a force of nature to be reckoned with. I've never seen someone blast through recordings the way he did. I had a shitty 8 track reel to reel at the time, and I remember Jay recording this awesome song on it. It took him about 30 minutes to finish the whole thing; he nailed every instrument/part on the first take (in contrast, I spent the entire summer trying to finish one song).
I also remember a Lost Sounds song that I recorded that summer ended with the line "you will never see me again, so I wave goodbye." He said it was written about a dream that he had died. He was walking away (towards some kind of afterlife or something) and waving goodbye to all his friends. Maybe that's what he's doing right now.
We'll miss you Jay! Lucky that you left us with so much amazing music to remember you by.

I'm deeply touched by this "In Memoriam".
Be strong, Brad!
