Bands: Disillusion, Neurosis, Kayo Dot, Opeth, Katatonia, Dark Tranquillity, Primordial, Gojira, Dark Suns, Negura Bunget, Anathema, Meshuggah and all the Leeds bands we've had the pleasure to gig with.
Other than that: the people we grew up with, nature (specifically her uglier side) and not to forget inspiring authors such as Hubert Selby Jr, Philip K. Dick, Kurt Vonnegut and Robert M. Persig.
We are an unsigned four piece death metal band from Leeds. Our music is progressive, melodic, doom-tinged and from song-to-song original. Rather a lot to swallow? We do not aspire to sound or be like anyone else and from the very beginning we've made it our priority to do something individual. Where most bands fail at this, becoming a mess of generic nonsense -Snow succeeds by only deducing the superlative conventions of extreme music.
We formed in 2004 and have been playing live since 2006, slowly gaining a highly regarded status on the Leeds scene.
In October 2008 we self-released a 4 track EP entitled "The Coldest Path". We recorded this with our good friend Johnny Teanby and had the work mastered by Brooke Johnson of The Axis of Perdition. See our blog for a review of the EP. We also used our first turn of profit to make an accompanying t shirt. Doom will never die, DOOMRAISER too! As one door closes, another opens. Valerio has decided to leave the band; he wants to concentrate more on his other projects. We all wish Valerio the best of luck with his new vocation. He was, and remains, a formidable guitarist and was an integral part of DOOMRAISER.
However, it is with great pleasure that DOOMRAISER announce that Valerio’s replacement is to be none other than our good friend and brother, the fearsomely talented musician Willer. He played bass with evil blacksters Grimness and he’s involved in Black Land, an awesome and obscure heavy psychedelic band from Rome. Practices have been going very well, and Willer is already adding a new, acid and exciting dimension to the band as a whole. His first gig will be at Sinister Noise Club in Rome on the 21th November: a special and drunken night celebrating the birthday of one of the most important Italian underground rock scene club!
