Heroes
I have more heroes than I ever thought would be possible. I love and respect men, but their are many women who have stood in the face of adversity with strength and dignity in to pave the way for women to follow. Wouldn't I be so lucky to step in even 1 of these ladies' footsteps. Maya Angelo - for telling stories and encouraging education for every individual in the world. Julia Roberts - for being a blockbuster movie star but real enough to know that it's all about coming home to family. Hilary Clinton - for being the first woman to run for the highest office in our country because she feels she is the best qualified...not the best qualified woman. Rhonda Britten - who taught me how to accept being loved and not giving it back. And, my Iyanla - for seeing that God may not like ugly but he sure likes it when we laugh!
About me: You might remember me from NBC's Daytime reality TV show, Starting Over, or you might not. Either way, in 2005, while working with life coaches, I lived with six women each suffering through life challenges, working to overcome obstacles and meet personal goals while living in one house under the watchful eye of America.
The nation watched as I struggled to overcome lifelong self esteem issues - Yikes! - only to find out later on the show that I had tested positive for the BRCA-1 gene and was pre-disposed to getting cancer again. With millions of viewers watching, I decided to lose both my breasts and uterus. I came back for season three of Starting Over to deal with the aftermath of my surgeries. Ever since this traumatic period of my life, I am stronger and more motivated to live life to its fullest, sharing my story anywhere,anytime. All you have to do is ask.
