Many people know me as Joy, Joy E.T., or Joye, however, a few years ago I decided to change my name. I was adopted and my birthname was Soara-Joyce Elaine Paterson. I decided to take back my 1st name, merge the past and present, and call myself Soara-Joye. I love it, and it means "singing bird soars joyfully"! Isn't that sweet? It is indeed the essence of who "I" am.
I have realized that I am one who loves to connect with others. I feel like we all have something in common and I want to know what it is. We have all loved, cried, been betrayed and lost someone we really care about in one way or another. Loving people. Listening to people. Sharing with people. It makes me feel good inside.
I am a working Actress/Singer!!!...most of the time, and I am grateful for that. I thank God for giving me these gifts, among others, my mommmy, Lynne, the rest of my family, friends, the J. Beckson Studio, all the voice teachers/ coaches/ technicians; (Jack Waddell, Scott Conner, etc...) and everyone else in my life that made it possible. God Bless them all!
I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and am a bit overwhelmed. I have kinda always been high maintenance, even when I tried not to be, but now I am even more high maintenance than I could have ever imagined, it's pretty unbelievable! I do, however, believe that everything happens for a reason and I know that God doesn't give us more than we can handle...even when it seems like it is. I will overcome this disease. I will take control of it! It will not take control of me!
I just finished out an 8 month contract in the Broadway Show "Les Miserables" playing Corus Specialty Roles. I love what I do, and wouldn't change it for anything in the world! I am a blessed woman of God. He is truely Awesome! :) Even when I don't feel on top of the world... "I know a blessing is on the way. I can't see it right now, but I stand by faith! I've got the Victory!!".
I have been in a beautiful relationship for almost 5 years, so I am not looking for any romance here on myspace. I am, however, here to mingle,re-connect with old friends, and make new ones. Loving, laughing, sharing and enjoying - that's what I'm in to. :)
