one day in late 2007, four kids receive identical anonymous letters directing them to an unknown address in northcote. they all arrive at a vacant warehouse to find each other, and a room of band equipment set up. scrawled in blood on the floor is a single word; 'play'. despite never having met each other before, they form a bond, and a band. as they leave the warehouse that afternoon, an eagle flies across the sun, casting its shadow across the land. they never learn who wrote the letters, choosing instead to concentrate on the music.
the soaring eagle folk have previously been parts of musical outfits including The Cliffy Davis Goodtime Band, Cooper Black, The I Love You, The Starlings, Betty Ford and the GT Falcons, Puerto Rico, The Astounding Years to Come and a bunch of others. they were all electric potatoes once too.
the eagle have played with such talented folk as Gaslight Radio, Major Chord, Hoshi in the Clouds, Man from the South and others. they are about to set foot in the majestic mess hall that is Idge's soundpark studio to make their first recordings. a couple of shows will follow in May and June - read on for that bit and look for the green poster, courtesy of my folk lover.
