Formed in 1995 by native Louisianian, Nolan Wiltz- South of the Border is one of Ipswich UK’s most enduring and engaging bands. The band is hard to pigeon- hold and even harder to ignore. A covers band that “owns a song” and turns it loose with a confident style that exudes pure musical competence.
This 4 piece outfit delivers a potent soul/ blues-rock/ funk idiosyncratic musical mixture. Their performance take you on a musical journey to New Orleans, Memphis ,Chicago, Austin with a dash of 60’s British rock added to boot.
All efforts are underpinned by this band’s patented TFF (tight, fat & funky) rhythm section, MMM (magical, modal & moving) guitars and a DHO/B (down home original/believable) vocals-frontman. SOB is renowned for their improvisational skills. So if you like your music exactly like the CD, “I pray for your soul”.
