My friends Joan and Allen recently invited me to join them to see Hope for Africa Children’s Choir which was performing at their church in Ashburn, Crossroads United Methodist Church (UMC). http://www.ecrossroadsumc.com/ Joan wrote “We have gotten to know them well, especially the 2 boys and their chaperone, Winston, who have stayed in our home. I would like you to meet them. Their story is amazing, and in light of Pay It Forward, they live it. I know you'd enjoy it.”
I’m so very glad that I cleared my schedule and went as it turned out to be a MAGICAL evening! I always seem to be smirking to myself at how God sprinkles us with such unexpected joys! THANK YOU GOD or rather “WEBALE” as these kids would say!
23 kids aging from 5 to 12 years old were handpicked after auditions to be apart of this choir of Ugandan orphans. Accompanied by 11 adults they are touring the U.S. for 4 months singing and dancing their little hearts out ~ I’m telling you I was in awe and EXHAUSTED just watching them! ~ They are the faces of the future of Africa and the vast potential this part of the world holds ~ eager and ready to explode and be heard! EDUCATION is the fundamental key to providing a means for these kids to excel and that is what “Humble School” is about.
The Choir is now associated with Crossroads UMC's orphanage in Uganda ~ HUMBLE United Methodist School ~ (HUMS) and after each 4 month tour of the U.S., the children will become Humble School students. Joan and Allen invited me back to their house to share some time with Fred, Tony, and Winston. We had an awesome time together talking about how we could work together and listening to Winston share his music and songs with us. I truly did not want the evening to end!

~ PIFP Trip to El Salvador Memorial Day Weekend 2008 ~
FINALLY! Memorial Day weekend was here! It had been two years since I had been to El Salvador, on another patriotic weekend, the 4th of July 2006. I have fond memories of that trip as it was my first “in the field” work with Pay It Forward Project. I was eager to get back and see the people we had befriended and especially the smiling little faces of the kids!
We hit the ground running and early mornings turned into late evenings before we knew it. We were joined by our friend and PIFP colleague Edna Salazar who lives in El Salvador. Edna was AMAZING with the coordination and work she had done prior to our arrival, to her negotiation skills, to getting us from place to place and enlisting the help of her friend Caroline on our last two days who was living her first Pay It Forward Project experience.
The trip was extremely successful as we were able to get 5 projects up and running in the Community of Armenia from interviewing the prospective families, to contract review, contract signing and actual purchase of supplies to get the excited recipients off on their new futures. We have 2 families doing a chicken raising project, 2 sisters running a drink & snack stand, a mother daughter team selling & cultivating roses, a sewing project and a business expansion project. It was truly magical! I stand in awe of what Denise envisions and sets to reality!

Soulfulnews.com is a website that will offer many spiritual resources to the faith-community. This will be a safe, clean, and spiritually themed website where we, the people of God can go and get spiritual information about what our God is doing in our city, in our community and in our lives.
The site will host spiritual news articles about every day people just like you and I. There will be comments, testimonies, thoughts, announcements, upcoming events and much more information provided by people who are from right here within our communities.
