A pastiche of Classic Rock, Alternate Rock and Metal. A multiplicity of sounds, sights and inspirations that has lead to a sonic montage.
"Pastiche: in a world in which stylistic innovation is no longer possible, all that is left is to imitate dead styles, to speak through the masks and with the voices of the styles in the imaginary museum. But this means contemporary art is going to be about art itself in a new kind of way; even more, it means that one of its essential messages will involve the necessary failure of art and the aesthetic, the failure of the new, the imprisonment in the past."
Fredric Jameson. "Postmodernism and Consumer Society". 1988.
Social Theorist formed in the spring of 2003. They hail from the South of the Southern hemisphere, in a somewhat peaceful and artistic community on a rustic Australian island made famous by devils and convicts. Their debut album, Four Eyed Fake, was released in July 2007. Recorded at the renowned Tasmanian studio, Winter Palace, the album is sonically an old steal sheet rusted around the edges, raw meat, steak with a pulse, the way an independent album should be. Their musical mission is to provide an artistic musical option. They want to show thirteen-year-old girls crazed on 'so fresh' advertising campaigns that there is, indeed, a higher path of musical enlightenment...
Social Theorist are currently writing and rehearsing songs for their sophomore album.
