Despite being one of the most unique hotels in Australia, Sodens can be compared to many other venues. From the legendary CBGB's that started the careers of many musicians, comedians and poets, to popular Australian live music venues such as The Corner Hotel, The Annandale, The Espy etc. Albury's oldest surviving hotel, Sodens IS music, wether its blues, hip hop, rock, indie, metal, electronic, anything. The one thing that sets Sodens apart from any other hotel in Albury/Wodonga, is its obsession with music. Sodens has hosted some of the best and most underrated acts this land has to offer, from internationally signed Aussie bands, to under-appreciated unsigned talent (which some go on to be signed on 6-figure contracts!) People who come to Sodens have a true passion for music, which unites the patrons in a way no other place can, and has created its own unique culture. Its not the sort of place where fat, dirty old men try and chat up young women, and those that do end up feeling so alienated and out of place, they don't stay for another beer. Its the sort of place where you can make friends simply by wearing a band shirt, or putting a good song on the Jukebox.
Some say the only thing that keeps us sane is music. And for some albury residents, the only thing keeping us sane is Sodens Hotel.
