Sören Leupold

Education

Sören Leupold began his education as a classical guitarist at the Conservatory in Osnabrück in 1988.

In 1989 he began to study of classical guitar with Prof. Eliot Fisk at the „Musikhochschule“ in Cologne.

He finished his guitar studies in 1993.

After completing his guitar studies, he began to study of the lute with Prof. Konrad Junghänel, which he completed in 1998 „with honour“.

Sören Leupold has worked with many of the most well known Ensembles and orchestras, such as

Musica Antiqua Köln, Academy of Ancient Music, Cantus Cölln, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Concerto Köln, La Fenice, Kölner Akademie, Kölner Kammerorchester, Al Ayre Espanol, Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam, Nova Stravaganza, Janine Jansen, Andreas Scholl, Musikfabrik NRW, etc..

Since 1995 he has been a regular member of the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam.

Recordings, Radio and Television                                                                                       

Sören Leupold has made a lot of recordings for CD's and DVD's. Several of these have received prices, such as Diapason d‘or, Editor‘s Choice Grammophone, Recommandé Classica, Grammy Nominée, etc..

He has been involved in many radio and television productions worldwide.

In 2004 he played the premier performance of Johannes Kalitzkes Memoria with the Musikfabrik NRW, which was broadcast live by the german radio station WDR (West German Radio).

In 2005 he played the Vespro della beata Vergine by Claudio Monteverdi with the ensemble La Fenice at the Festival in Beaunne, which was broadcast by Radio France.

In 2006 he played Georg Friedrich Händel's opera Amadigi with Al Ayre Espanol at the festival in Montpellier, which was broadcast live by Radio France.

In 2003 Sören Leupold founded the Leupold Trio together with the violinist Eva Stegeman and cellist Wouter Mijnders, who are also members of the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam.
