Being a DJ in a City where everyone is a "DJ" or knows a "DJ", you had best show and prove that you have what it takes to stand out. Luckily for New York City based DJ, Sofie Fatale, that's the least of her worries, as she has quickly made a name for herself in NYC nightlife.
Born in Venice, California, she moved to New York early in her childhood, but still maintains a bi-coastal swagger evident in her sets with a signature blend of hip-hop, house, rock, classics, soul, funk and reggae.
Her ability to read the crowd and deliver sets her apart from other DJs in NYC, and have landed her weekly residencies in the ever popular Meat Packing District of Manhattan, high-end boutique events, as well as corporate suitors (her clients include, Fox, Kicksclusive Magazine, Kanye West, Williamson PR, Daniel Boulud, Latina Magazine) "I don't compare myself to other female DJs, because there isn't another female DJ in New York that can do what I do. To me a woman can have sex appeal in front of two turntables, and still be cutting, scratching, mixing, blending, mashing with precision and skills. A female DJ shouldn't get a pass cause we are not supposed to be as good as the fellas. If you want to call yourself a DJ you have to put in that work. Period”.
Having accomplished so much in 2008 alone, She most recently was the 3rd Place Winner in the world renowned WMC DJ Spin Off in 2009, she beat out over 45 of the world's best DJ's for the spot. 2009 promises a bigger and brighter year for Sofie Fatale.
