It all started when Sofie, age 15, borrowed an old synthesiser from a friend. Intrigued and beguiled by its puzzling menu layout and strangely labelled functions, she was destined to ask "what does that button do?". Thus began a long and sordid love affair with electronics and music.

Sofie has written/recorded an album called "The Magenta Incident", a collection of quirky and unconventional electronica that was written over a 5 year period of international travel to places like South Africa, Poland, The Netherlands and Germany. The album features the exquisite voices of Natalia Grosiak (PL) Michyla Avery (AUS) and the legendary Larry Mizell makes an appearance on rhodes. The limited edition pressing of the album is set for release early 2009. Meanwhile Sofie is busy writing and recording a second album, moonlighting under other monikers, releasing an EP on Straightup Recordings and a collaboration for Southern Outpost with bvdub. She has written music with some wonderful local and international artists including Dawid Szczesny, Jacqui Hunt, MC Trey, The Mizell Brothers, Adi Dick, Theo Parrish and Roman Rosic. She sometimes DJ's as Miss Memory and performs live experimental sound sculptures. Sofie is working on building an instrument called the Shimmer. Prototype one has just been built using kitchen bowls, electronic hammers and midi. She is also collaborating on building a Brainwave to MIDI instrument currently in prototyping stage.
