MiKe's Interests
General
films - both watching and making, music, traveling and being outside of St. Louis, meeting new people, hanging out, writing, my dog Cindel, inventing lyrics to classical music, an After School Special on a rainy afternoon, old bicycles, old books, silent film, old movie theaters, satellite radio - especially talk radio (okay, just Howard Stern), children's breakfast cereals, film history, Nintendo Wii, empty museums.
Music
Pearl Jam, Springsteen, The Strokes, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Soundgarden or Audioslave or anything Chris Cornell does, Placebo, Muse, The Mars Volta, the Smashing Pumpkins, Queen, R.E.M., The White Stripes, U2, Sting and the Police, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Fine Young Cannibals, Donovan, Stone Temple Pilots, Talking Heads, Madness, De Sjawi's...
Movies
I am crazy about movies. My favorite is Thunderbolt & Lightfoot and others I really dig include Caddyshack, The Good the Bad & The Ugly, and many many more. I posted my top 100 in my myspace blog. I'm a DVD junkie - see what covers two walls here.
Television
Saturday Night Live (mostly the classic era), old movies on Turner Classic Movies, 60 Minutes and Survivor. Old shows I dug: Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, SCTV, Mr Show, Taxi, Dream On, Adventures of Pete and Pete, Get a Life, Rembo en Rembo, Barbapapa, ABC's After School Special, and old Hanna Barbera cartoons on Boomerang.
I also like to watch The Suite Life with Zach & Cody on the Disney Channel because I find it fascinating to watch those identical twins because one of them is fat and one of them is not. I also like Hannah Montana but that's not as good because it doesn't have identical twins of which one is fat and the other skinny.
Books
The Razor's Edge - W. Somerset Maugham. And the most brilliant book in the world: NOTHING LOST FOREVER: THE FILMS OF TOM SCHILLER by an even more brilliant writer whose name I forget. But look it up on amazon and buy copies for all your friends, I've got some bills to pay.
Heroes
turkey, lettuce, tomato, salt, pepper, vinegar, no mayo.
About me: Hi, this is Mike and this is my profile. How can I help you?
I try to live my life by inspirational quotes or sayings, like "Do unto others...", "happiness is the key to success," "Nothing happens until I make it happen," "what kills me only makes me stronger," and "Arbeit macht frei."
Who am I? I am a half-Dutch, half-American single Caucasian male living in New York City. I like to write, and I like movies. I try to be funny sometimes and make you go like this:
Who I'd like to meet: people I haven't met before. And people in New York who are into films. Say hello to me. AIM - > streeter89
Ciao! How are you dear? We haven't talked in a loooong time! Hope everything is ok with you. How is it going with your writing career??? Does Bill still call you in the morning? Ehehe, hope to catch you online soon. P.S. Did you see that someone else has written Chevy's biography???
Sounds cool. I’ve always wanted to live in NYC but I’m afraid I wouldn’t know how to get anything done. Lately, my forte has been animation and getting fired from part time jobs. The film is in the process of being edited right now and I’ve still got a little more work to do. If it doesn’t collapse under it’s own weight – I’ll definitely inform you of its completion. What have you been doing working on these days? If you ever come back to STL you’ll have to let me know.
Nowadays I reside in Los Angeles, doing random tv gigs and working on another pilot. I hope to bring my comedy to NY some day soon. I am trying to land, at very least, an audition (or get a tape in) at..you know where.. I almost feel bad saying where because it's really what most sketch people dream of..as do I. F leaving town man. I'm sorry you couldn't attend. What can you tell me about this book? Quite curious I am.
Hey Michael!!!
I was going to write you an e-mail, because FINALLY I've got your book!!!!
100.000 billions thanks for giving me credit in the Acknowledgments page. I added the info on my page on the IMDB! Hey, by the way...I'm going to L.A. this Summer!
i was just buffing my "Best Soundtrack" trophy and i thought of u. ..oh! i have a couple rappers for your next film. its a documentary called "White Twenty-Something Losers: It Aint Eazy Bein Sleazy"
nah, it's still in my hair! i got my hair cut, it's shorter but still black, i give it two more weeks at the most. then i might dye it again. what are you up to?
Hej Mike,
The Yellow Wallpaper!? Wow, yeah, I haven't even thought of that in forever...I've been so freakin busy with other crap! I still would love to do something with that though (It's funny how the things you plan for a while always get put on the back burner!). And btw...I liked "Roger" in that janitor film! His back voiceovers were great...especially when the pillow was up against his mouth when he was trying not to laugh. ;-)
I thought your film 2 project effin rawked! The phone slamming scene was like a beautiful ballet of destruction! lol. Well, I think my message might be longer...write me back, foo!
A most welcome soul to any occasion. Mike is one of a chosen common thread individuals who amazes me every time I notice his wide range of film and TV. I'm also proud to say that he helped me in a successful cause of a movie that was getting some injustice on DVD. Now we and 173 others can honestly say we did it. I'm happy as hell that his book is mostly sold out in NYC. My only regret was that I haven't gotten a copy yet but soon. By the time you read this, I'll have one by then. My "Antler Dance" representation is a tip of the hat to SNL and Mike for he has resurged my interest in the classic episodes. The funny thing is we were in the same building at the same screening of the film he wrote about last year and we've kept contact ever since for both of our efforts as well as the occasional yuckup about anything. Here is a very good author with a future that is wide and no longer needs shades. Cheers my boy!!! BIG TIME!!!
