This is a tribute site to the late Chris Whitley. He was a brilliant musician who always followed his own muse, and made some beautiful and unique music while doing so. If you have any requests for music, let me know. I hope you all enjoy his wonderful legacy.
'Dislocation Blues' - a collaborative record that Chris and I made together in April 2005 - will be released in a months time through ABC records in Australia, with international releases planned for later in the year. Hope everyone enjoys the sounds. peace, Jeff.
I saw Chris like 6 times, usually at the 400 bar in mpls, and 1st ave, the best was at the Fineline, he just got done eating dinner, and I didnt want to bother him. But I said hi, and we chatted for a bit. He was so laid back. I asked him for his autograph on my 1st whitley cd. He said yes, so i went out to my truck to get it. Then he asked me to sit at his table, we talked for like 15 min. or so. Really cool guy. His show was great as usual, just him and his beat box, I'll always remember that one the most...
Peace to all of you people who knew Chris;wanted to meet Chris, or just had an ear for his music! I never got to meet Chris, although I'm quite lookin forward to singing a duet in Heaven! Anyway may you all continue to be blessed by Chris' rare talent, and may the legacy of Chris Whitley continue on.
Be blessed,

so tough to deal with this... the loss of talent early. i lived through my first experience of thiss when Jeff Buckley tragically died in 1995... i still haven't recovered and i'm not sure i will from the loss of either one of these guys... so much talent, lyric, and sound left unexposed. hopefully others artists will glean and bring forth that which was lef undone.
Thanks for the add. I'm very saddened to hear of Chris's passing. As a teenager Living With The Law opened up slide guitar to me in a major way not to mention brought a new classier type of music to a palatte mostly of hair bands and heavy metal.
His music touches me more on a personal level than any other. It's almost like he and his instruments just melt together and product is always perfect. I will miss his music. My all time favorite song is Big Sky Country and Starve to Death, so if you could maybe add those at some point, that would be great.
