Soglia del Dolore was one of the most influential Italian peace punk bands of the ’80s.
The band has reformed in 2004 with two members of the original line-up. In concert, we now play the old songs as well as new
materials.

Members of the band collaborated with several music projects over the years. Probably, the most well-known example internationally is the collaboration between our current voice Francis and the english alternative/goth band In The Nursery. On their album Lingua, Francis is the male voice on the track "Bielo Dumblo" (listen to a short audio snip).

Probabilmente, l’esempio di collaborazione internazionale piu’ noto e’ quello fra il nostro attuale cantante Francis e la band alternativa/gotica inglese In The Nursery. Although the name of the band (which means
"Threshold of Pain") is interpreted by some as a kind of "we play very
loud/dangerous to your ears" message, what we had in mind when we chose
that name was totally different. The band has always been primarily interested in the
political and social aspects of the punk movement, and the name
actually referred to the feeling of being psychologically
overwhelmed by human suffering, caused by the summing up of several factors:
war, poisoning and destruction of the environment, consumerism,
violation of human and animal rights, distorted use of the media
for mass control,... These are the things our songs spoke
and speak of (an english translation of a few songs is being included
in the blog for non-italian speakers).
[Sebbene il nome della band venga a volte interpretato come "suoniamo a volume molto alto/pericolosi per le tue orecchie", quello che avevamo in mente quando l’abbiamo scelto era completamente diverso. La band e’ sempre stata interessata prettamente agli aspetti sociali e politici del movimento punk ed il nome si riferiva in realta’ alla sensazione di essere psicologicamente sopraffatti dalla sofferenza umana, causata dal sommarsi di diversi fattori: guerra, avvelenamento e distruzione dell’ambiente, consumismo, violazioni dei diritti umani e degli animali, uso distorto dei media per il controllo di massa,... Queste sono le cose di cui i nostri pezzi parlavano e parlano .]
More than twenty years after those songs were written, none of
the changes in society we hoped for did materialize, and some of the
lyrics are even more suited to
the current situation than the somewhat simpler world of the ’80s.
