Rick Abel and Jennifer Jennings, brother and sister, grew up in a very musical family. Their mother was an amazing soprano soloist, teaching them music in church from as far back as they can remember. “I remember singing ‘He Touched Me’ from Colorado to California and back in three part harmony.” Jennifer recalls, “Music was just a part of everyday life.”
Jennifer taught herself to play by listening and watching other musicians. At age fourteen, having had a year of formal piano instruction, she went on to tour as pianist for a gospel quartet in high-school before heading to college to become a piano performance major. During college she arranged and did original compositions for various college choirs and choral / instrumental groups. As a teacher, she loves to encourage her students to develop and use their musical gifts to honor and serve God. Jennifer served as worship leader and music director at the Harbor Church in Tacoma, WA. Her husband, the founding pastor of Harbor, is completing his Ph.D. in 'Reading Theory and the Bible' at the University of Leeds in England.
Rick has always loved to sing! At age three, he would mimic the song leader’s directing while singing at the top of his lungs. One time the song leader stood him up on the podium during a song and Rick continued to sing and direct the congregation, never noticing that they were no longer singing but rather enjoying his performance. Rick has toured with quartets and as a featured vocalist. He also has many years of ministerial experience as worship leader/music director in local churches, and has been a music educator, vocal instructor, and choral director in various schools and churches. He continues to use his musical gifts as guest soloist for community events, mission conferences, and church related occasions, as well as serving in his local church.
Back together again, Rick and Jennifer have arranged a sample of songs they have grown to love through the years.. once again seeking to honor God with their music.
