Fronted by the incredible Aisling Browne and backed by a dynamic rhythm section, Irish indie dance trio Solar Taxi have been wowing audiences with exciting electronic shows in their home country for some time and now launch their self-titled record label. Taking influence from the French electronic scene and equally indie ravers such as Does This Offend You Yeah?, The Gossip and Boyz Noize, the first Solar Taxi release 'CantWont' is a fresh slice of electronica destined for big things.
An excellent and diverse remix package is provided by Soydan, Haveck and Henning My Friend.
Hailing from Turkey via Waterford, Ireland; Soydan burst onto the house scene in 2006 when he launched his deep and funky house label Yakuza Recordings. Mark Farina, DJ Heather, DJ Sneak and thousands of record buyers around the world instantly fell in love with Yakuza. Soydan is now a busy DJ with regular slots around Europe and across America and continues to build his name as a producer for record labels including Guesthouse and Shak.
Brazilian DJ, producer and remixer Haveck has been working closely with American/Brazilian music company UC Music for a number of years releasing a string of EPs. He has also undertaken remix work for Renno Records and DJ Friendly Records amongst others, seamlessly crossing genres and always showing originality in each composition. His remix of ‘CantWont’ dives into warped out warehouse territory that should find favour with fans of Claude VonStroke, Jesse Rose and Riton.
Rounding off the package is young Swedish producer Henning My Friend. Influences including MstrKrft, Boyz Noize, Justice and Mr. Oizo are clear to see in his remix of ‘CantWont’, as Henning My Friend adds his heavy, distinctive style. Alongside a release for Brazilian label Proto Records, Henning My Friend is currently locked in the studio working on his debut album.
Greetings to you, our kind friends from Ireland. As some of you may be aware, we had intended to visit your fine and verdant home this very winter, in the deep cold heart of December. Unfortunately, due to circumstance, (that surly old bugbear), we will not be able to make it. Do not fear, no need to rend your hair in agony or take to the streets in mournful procession. This is merely a postponement of our inevitable arrival, as foretold by scholars and mystics of old. This band of rough hewn and unknown balladeers from out the concrete wilds of Boise, Idaho will make joyous landfall in the relatively near(ish) future. In the mean time, we will wrap ourselves in blankets and begin recording our new album, to be released this spring. We greatly appreciate all of your support, comments, and interest, and look forward to performing for you soon. Take care and keep your toes warm. Josh/ASD And here, an extra special gift for you. A video of us covering a song by Boise’s biggest musical export, (no, not Josh Ritter, though he is a fellow Idahoan, of whom we’re duly proud), Built to Spill.
