About Major J.D. Elderkin: A Soldier of Three Wars
ABOUT THE MUSICAL
Major J.D. Elderkin was born in 1820 and passed away at some point after 1899. In between he lived a poignant life which he used to fill his autobiography with stories of three wars, life, practical jokes, General Grant, ladies, drinking, a band, an infamous chisel incident that tore him away from his brother for 13 years.
Elisabeth Blair and Ryan Gunzel have set many of Elderkin's stories to music using his words, and illustrating it with live action from Eleffant Foot Theatre Co and shadow puppetry from puppeteer Barbara Swem.
Location: Peter Jones Gallery, 1806 W. Cuyler. Near Irving Park & Damen.
