Acoustic Death Metal - Ok who thinks they are the funny man ?
Something was happening, something was different. People would be out on street corners after dark, when only months before; they would hide in their houses too afraid. They laid down their mats with boom boxes blaring, top-rocking, hand glides, windmills, drops and freezes. 3 kick drums and 1 snare to every bar. You couldnt tell what it was, but you could feel something moving beneath you. You knew the graffiti that covered the walls of every shop and side of every train carriage in town wasnt the mindless tags of angst ridden teens. You believed the words and lived them like slogans. You knew it wasnt a phase or a fad, but a movement.
Blue country roots or poetry with melody; as their funky beats move your feet, their tales will tease your mind. Inspired by artists like Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, Xavier Rudd and The Mountain Goats, together Soldiers of the Sun combine beautiful acoustic melodies with funky rhythms and a modern approach to musical storytelling. From hookers to clowns, homeless fanatics, to a love affair with alcohol, a dog on death row and the boy who collected sound, their songs are stories you will tell your children when they are old enough.
A regular on Triple J and other national and local radio stations, Soldiers of the Sun have played a consistent string of headline shows in and around Brisbane over the past two years, including the Grass Roots Music Festival and Roots by the River Festival, supporting a number of national touring bands along the way.
Their music has been used in a number of Surf DVDs, that have been featured on Foxtel's Fuel TV and at The Falls Festival in Tasmania and Victoria. They also recently won an Los Angeles Music Award for Best Blues Single for one of their tracks.

It’s been far too long since I last said hello and so much has happened I thought it about time we did.
We’ve changed a lot, now we are an “UltraModern, post-electro rock, post-nu rave behemoth where Muse and Mansun meet a Massive Attack with Duran Duran pop sensibilities, louder guitars, and a stunning female front person/guitar virtuoso”, or so we have been told.

The Funknecks take on Deadly are the Naked in a double header at Bar Open 317 Brunswick st Fitzroy, both bands striving for domination of the "Fattness". Who will take out this prestigious prize?! Not to be missed.....Saturday February 28th 9pm free. Then,the very next day Sun March 1st The Funknecks make an appearance at the annual Sydney rd Street Party on the Youth Stage 4:30pm....Thumpin..!!
