About me: Sol Fest ATX---2pm-2am--All Day Event--
Announcing the First Annual Sol Fest ATX; taking place Saturday October 6th, in Austin, Tx, at the
Compound, 1300 E. 4th St.
Sol Fest ATX is an all inclusive and all encompassing multi-media festival that will be presenting some
of Texas's finest live bands, visual artists, short films, and poets.
This genuine Austin grassroots effort was spurred by recognizing the need for a platform to promote
and expose rising stars and artist.
Sol Fest begins it's first annual event by presenting great visual art, in different mediums; Johnny Ramirez
(trash to fine art; translucent mosaics), Alex Chapa(Antholigies and abstract landscapes),
Jennifer Nowzaradan(stimulating oil & acrylics), Rodrigo Quintanilla( Self-Determining Art),Stephanie
Cerame(inspirational), and Nathan Capehart with loaded compositions.
During the course of the day, we will also present all sorts of colorful performers, from belly dancers, to
the strumming beat of Latin at Heart, Austin's own and legendary Sarah Elizabeth Campbell,
the cross cultural music of Gilbert Diaz de Leon; all of which lend their impressions to this wonderful
event. Ethnic foods, drinks, and spoken word will also be present.
The evening of booty shaking will begin with Omerta Ignored, a band of four chicano brothers who
deliver feirce rythm, multi-dimensional cuts, and bold politically charged lyrics to their progressive metal sound.
After, Master Blaster Sound System takes control, by making you move to their live band over a Ableton
performance with a DJ. The night continues with the power house performance of Supa Phat. Out of Laredo
Texas, this funk guitar driven sound, with hip hop vocals, backed by explosive brass instruments, will,
without a doubt, entertain the dancing folk.
The festival will climax with the 'latin-ghetto booty-shakin rock-n-roll' of Kanko. Austin's own Brian
Ramos(former singer and co-founder of Grupo Fantasma) leads this motley crue of styles and influences.
Sol Fest is a festival that is brought to you by Austin people.
Our independent spirit represents what is going on with arts and culture in central texas.
Sol Fest is brought to you by you.

The Rag Blog and South Austin Pictures present a screening of "God
Thinks You're a Loser," a perverse comedy from Austin director Gary
Chason, at The Independent in the 501 Studio Complex, 8 p.m., Thursday,
August 27, 2009, 501 E. 5th at I-35 in Austin, Texas (entrance on
Brushy Street, one block east of I-35).
A donation of $10 is suggested, with proceeds benefiting The Rag Blog,
a progressive internet news magazine based in Austin. There will be a
cash bar.
According to Chason, "God Thinks You're a Loser" is "a zany comedy
about strippers and oil men" with "plenty of kinky sex, drugs, and the
reckless pursuit of sensual pleasure." But in the end, those who hurt
others must answer for their actions.
Much of the film takes place in Hell.
A live discussion with director Gary Chason and star Sue Rock will follow the screening.
