Solitary Pod 7's Interests
|
| General | I currently help teach the HS Sunday School class. In addition, I enjoy family bible study with a number of families who also have young children. I love staying active, whether it's basketball, volleyball, or breakdancing. My first love is football though playing and watching. I'm politically conservative and firm in my stands. I am always open to dialogue with others who are reasonable and respectful even, and sometimes especially, if they have different opinions. I love discussing reality shows, sports, politics, theology, and just about anything that's important to you. | | Music | I enjoy any music that I can dance to. And since I’ve been known to break and pop without music, I pretty much like everything. | | Movies | Action and comedies are my favorite with a little bit of Drama mixed in. One of my favorite movies would have to be Dead Poet’s Society. Going old school big time, I would have to say Beat Street. Currently, I loved The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and the X-Men series. | | Television | Reality shows like So You Think You Can Dance(do you see a theme here?), Survivor and Apprentice. Older Sit-coms and shows that I was addicted to pre-children were Friends, Seinfeld, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawson’s Creek.
| | Books | The Bible is a given. Another book that has influenced my world view has been Putting Amazing Back into Grace by Michael Horton. I enjoyed reading and teaching Joy Luck Club. Then, there’s an assortment of literature that my Freshmen and Seniors can tell you that I really get into… doing voices and bad accents while reading out loud. | | Heroes | The obvious one would be Jesus. As I reflect more on the luxuries that my children enjoy compared to my own upbringing, I come to realized that are spoiled. I think they appreciate it, but it’s nothing like growing up with hand-me-downs for the third time(I have 3 older brothers, Richard, Michael, and Gary). My second almost immediate epiphany is that my parents sacrificed a great deal for me so that I could do well and that their grand kids could enjoy an even better life. More and more, I admire my parents.

Solitary Pod 7's Blurbs |
About me:
I'm a crazy, fun, person who grew up in the mean streets of LA. As a profession, I teach English at my high school alma mater(1988). I graduated from UC Irvine in 1992 and earned my teaching credential in 1993. I have been married to my lovely wife Jenny for almost a decade and enjoy raising our kids Benjamin, Lydia, and Rebekah. I love my family and the students that I teach. Some of them say I give too much homework. I think my former students from the 90's would say I was too easy.
