Solitude are a 6 piece metal band from Southampton, UK blending heavy metal with synth/keyboards. The band started out in August 2003 and in December 2003 completed their first recording together, the four-track demo ‘A Mind Without Doors’. Throughout 2004 Solitude continued playing shows only to enter the studio in August 2004 to re-record their demo and to add more songs. The 10 track mini album ‘Through Torment + Torture’ lead the band to identifying their fan base which was growing throughout and outside of the UK. ‘Through Torment + Torture’ was released through Bournemouth based label Manmade Records in 2005 and the band received a positive 7/10 review in Rock Sound Magazine. In the last part of 2006 the band recorded the 5-track ep 'More Enemies Than Friends' and soon after that they completed their first full UK tour with Mendeed. This year the band have released 'More Enemies Than Friends' through Manmade records as well as touring with Devildriver in October and recruiting new addition Matthew Huxted, who has joined on guitar to expand the groups already huge sound. The band will now focus on writing new material to play and record throughout 2008.
So far the band have played with the likes of DevilDriver, God Forbid, Skindred, Mnemic, Dry Kill Logic, Mendeed, Gutworm, Breed 77, Byzantine and Queen Adreena.
