Southampton based metallers Solitude formed in August 2003 and completed their first recording together, the four-track demo ‘A Mind Without Doors’ in December of that year. Throughout 2004 Solitude continued playing shows around the UK and writing more songs together which lead to re-entering the studio in August 2004 to re-record the first demo and to add the new songs. The ten track mini album ‘Through Torment + Torture’ soon helped the band to identify their fan base which was growing throughout and outside of the UK. ‘Through Torment + Torture’ was released through Bournemouth based label Manmade Records in 2005 and the band received a positive 7/10 review in Rock Sound Magazine. In 2006 the band recorded the five-track EP 'More Enemies Than Friends' which was soon followed by their first full UK tour with Mendeed. ’More Enemies Than Friends’ then received an 8/10 review in Rock Sound Magazine and a 7/10 review from Terrorizer Magazine. In October of 2007 Solitude went on their second full UK tour supporting DevilDriver, the band also recruited a second guitarist and friend Matthew Huxted, who joined to expand the groups already huge sound.
Solitude parted ways in 2008 after almost five years together and had played with such artists as DevilDriver, God Forbid, Skindred, Mnemic, Dry Kill Logic, Mendeed, Gutworm, Breed 77, Byzantine and Queen Adreena. The band had some amazing experiences and still share many great memories. Solitude would like to thank all of those who we had the pleasure to meet or play with and especially to those who stuck by us and believed in what we were doing.
