In a time where repetitive, mundane pop dominates the radio, Sol enters as a new sound that is sure to change the scene. Their dynamic sound is the product of several influences ranging from blues and jazz to funk and hip-hop bolstered by catchy melodies, unforgettable hooks and insightful lyrics.
Their newest release, Synesthesia, encompasses the band’s aesthetic of simplistic melodies mixed with technologically-fresh ornamentation and carefully crafted lyrics. Sol’s sound has the popping resemblance of Maroon 5 intertwined with a soulful voice similar to that of John Mayer or Gavin Degraw.
In their first year as a band together, Sol was selected as one of the top 25 college bands in the nation for the 2005-2006 MTVu Best Music on Campus Competition. Since then, Sol has played with various national acts including Robert Randolph and the Family Band, G. Love and Special Sauce. They have also played with local Wisconsin favorites The Profits and Natty Nation.
Showing a bit more soul, the band has been an active participant in philanthropic ventures, including the Action in Sudan Benefit Show in Madison, WI, to raise awareness for the genocide in the Sudan.
