i honestly feel that music is the perfect and ultimate expression of the soul, it has helped me through tough times, and enhanced some not so tough times... there are 6 bands i consider my "favorite" because i love every single song i have ever heard by them, tool and NIN are the modern mozarts of our time.-- NINE INCH NAILS, TOOL, SUBLIME, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and PINK FLOYD....others include but are in no way limited to : JOHNNY CASH, kaki king, NICK CAVE, a perfect circle, TORI AMOS, ravi and anoushka shankar, marilyn manson, DINOSAUR JR, mindless self indulgence, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS, THE DEAD KENNEDYS, the ex, the ramones, PROPAGANDHI, THE CLASH, crass, SOCIAL DISTORTION, green day,---THE TALKING HEADS, the beastie boys, OPERATION IVY, rancid, front 242, MISFITS, skinny puppy, {oghr}, pigface, DISPATCH, peaches, the police, mad mike the hippie bum, nirvana, bloodhound gang, ANI DIFRANCO, blue october, willie nelson, MODEST MOUSE, DAMIEN RICE, bright eyes, (put those two on a compilation and you are in singer/songwriter heaven) bob marley, puscifer, kmfdm, primus, BOB DYLAN, PORTISHEAD, THE TOADIES, the beatles (esp JOHN LENNON), THE ROLLING STONES, king crimson (very early), steely dan (ditto), TENACIOUS D, flogging molly, WEEN, guns n roses, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, ANYTHING mike patton is involved with (esp MR BUNGLE), the dead milkmen, XTC, dire straits, LIVE, the pogues, EMINEM, HANK WILLIAMS SR, jr, and THE THIRD, outkast, ANYTHING FROM THE 80S, DEVO, FRANK ZAPPA, THE GOD DAMN PIMPS!!
however...i think that in every genre, (besides pop written by A & R shills) someone is pouring their heart into what they are doing. so to say "i don't like {enter genre here}" means you are going to miss out on something.
Punk Fucking Rock you're a classic punker. you are intelligent, hard headed, antiestablishment, and strongly motivated in government relations. you like a lot of underground bands that other people don't really know about. you are strongly opinionated, but generally care about others and what they think. unless they are idiots. you know who the fuck you are...you think cigarettes and beer {especially miller high life} kick fucking ass. you smoke pot, even though most "real" punks think you are kind of lame for doing so.

Heroes
living heroes
george w bush is obviously not a hero, but i would like to sit down and pick his brain for a while.
i think bettie page was the perfect female specimen when she was younger, and at 80 years old is still very beautiful.
Ron Mann is an MMA fighter, and an LBK {left below knee} amputee. he is a personal hero, and has inspired me to begin training for my own MMA career. {as soon as i secure the insanely expensive prosthetic he has}
along with russ feingold, dave obey is one of the very few politicians i truly trust to vote the way i would. so much so, that i have voted against green candidates {the only party with a conscious} since i moved to wisconsin's 7th district.

i've spent the last few years spreading the idea that religion is just part of the human condition, neither right nor wrong, merely a code of conduct to bring us closer to "god". the lowest common denominator of which is to be a decent human being. kindness, compassion, love, and above all HONESTY are the only way to get through this life. i am a hopeless romantic, and rabidly politically active, i write several letters a week to my congressmen and various statewide editorial pages.
i am an aspiring singer/songwriter--what had originally started as a career in scathing protest songs has evolved into a mellower affair--songs of unrequited love and love lost...demo should be coming soon...
"The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey – don't worry, don't be afraid ever, because this is just a ride ...' And we ... kill those people. Ha ha, 'Shut him up. We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real.' It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter, because – it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead, spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace. Thank you very much, you've been great." [several gunshots ring out, Bill mimes being hit and falls to floor, motionless.] (Onstage closing comments of Hicks's Revelations special from 1993)

As I was laying down to sleep about midnight on October 25th I closed my eyes and immediately was overtaken with an overwhelming feeling...I can not fully explain the feeling , but was like no feeling I've ever had. *for the record I'm not really a "ghost" or "spooks" guy* I felt as if I was passing out? or, going under? if that makes sense? at this same time I "knew" in my heart that I was being visited by Solomon Remus..a dear friend who passed away recently of problems due to being diabetic..I was not scared, yet I was alittle uneasy as I was feeling something I cant say Ive ever felt before. he didnt appear...I didnt see a figure,or a face , I just knew he had stopped by ...maybe just to say Hi...nothing specific really? wierd...
this is a true account of a bizzare event indeed..
I thought friends of Sols might enjoy this story as the end result was: I have some amount of peace about the matter..
We remember what a great guy you were..and still are.. Solomon
