So Long Charlie is a 4-piece indie rock band originating from the outskirts of Chicago. The band first took shape in early 2006 and has now arrived at the debut of their first album, The Saturn Sessions.
With each song they write So Long Charlie sticks to their personal motto: make it simple, but deep within the song include layers that make it more profound with each listen, thereby calling the listener back for more. By drawing from their grunge roots, So Long Charlie fuses sweet melodies with driving distortion and unique movements creating a framework of sound not often heard in the current indie rock scene. Longing to bring back some beautiful simplicity to rock music, the band relies on the four basic instruments of popular music: drums, bass, guitar and vocals. The goal is to create something organic and minimalist while simultaneously exposing the listener to a sound that they haven't heard before.
Thanks to the band's unique pop-infused songs, So Long Charlie has graced the stages of many well-established rock venues in and around Chicago including: The Elbo Room, The Pearl Room, Clearwater Theater, Penny Road Pub, Martyrs', and Wise Fool's Pub to name a few. After completing an album that is a cohesive collection of stories and sounds, the band dove headfirst into world of live performance, reaching as many willing ears as possible. The band aims to capture the attention of the music industry and, more importantly, the listening public who may have forgotten or perhaps never even experienced the magic that comes from falling in love with music.
With honest drive and earthy substance rarely witnessed by the over-saturated pop culture today, So Long Charlie, armed with their debut album "The Saturn Sessions" is poised to take over the music industry, and eventually the planet, one stereo at a time.
