At the age of seventeen, he is one of the first studio musicians in the Capital city of Tananarive. At Discomad Studio, the only recording studio on the main Island -- in a country where the music is as rich and vital as its flora and fauna -- Solorazaf plays guitar, bass and drums on countless recordings for different artists from the various regions across Madagascar. Self-taught, his studio experience and exposure to so many musicians and so much indigenous music not only gives him the tools to become one of the most important practitioners of the music, it allows him to create a wholly personal style steeped in the Malgache tradition. In 1979, he moves to Paris and quickly establishes himself as an in-demand accompanist and session player contributing to the music of many great French recording artists in various styles of Pop and World music . From 1998 , Solorazaf plays with the quartet “Worlds of Guitar”. The group includes guitar masters Fareed Haque, Romero Lubambo and Aquiles Baez. During this busy period, however, Solorazaf was also the lead guitarist for the legendary Miriam Makeba. Solorazaf travels the globe touring for 15 years with Makeba. The world tours include among others “Live the future” with Makeba and Dizzy Gillespie, “The Three Divas Tour” with Miriam Makeba, Nina Simone and Odetta as well as the “The USA Tour:Tour of Hope” with Hugh Masekela & Miriam Makeba. In 2001, Solorazaf begins touring his “Solo Guitar Performance”. He plays Europe, the USA and Canada. His solo concerts are widely acclaimed in the USA and Europe and according to a lot of world guitar press magazines,he establishes himself as one of the most innovative solo guitar player’s on the World scene. Engagé avec d’autres musiciens par l’ unique studio Discomad de la Grande Ile, il a joué de la guitare, de la basse et batterie pour les enregistrements de plusieurs artistes issus des différentes régions de Madagascar, ce pays où la musique est aussi riche que sa faune et flore. Autodidacte, (après avoir pris quelques leçons de guitare classique…) cette expérience lui permet de commencer à se bâtir un style personnel basé sur les traditions musicales malgaches. Plus tard, il revient en France et s’installe à Paris, joue avec nombreux artistes francophones sur scène et en studio (chansons Maxime Leforestier, Graeme Allwright …), musique africaine ( Ray Lema, Franco …), chansons pour enfants. De novembre 1986 à août 2000, SOLORAZAF a été lead guitarist de Miriam Makeba et a fait les tournées mondiales • « Live the Future » Miriam Makeba/Dizzy Gillespie (1990) • « The 3 Divas Tour » avec Nina Simone, Odetta et MiriamMakeba (1991) • « The USA Tour : tour of Hope of Hugh Masekela/Makeba ‘1994) A partir de l’ année 2001, SOLORAZAF se consacre entièrement à son répertoire de compositions personnelles et se produit sur les scènes européennes et américaines en « solo guitar performance » (Italie, Allemagne, USA, , Fest inter. Quebec, Argentine ….) ponctué par de nombreuses collaborations : • Aux USA avec le groupe « Worlds of Guitar » Romero Lubambo/Aquiles Baez/Fareed Haque/Solorazaf, réunion de musiciens imaginée par Charlie Fishman , producteur de Dizzie Gillespie et de David Sanchez. • En France avec Jean Félix Lalanne sur plusieurs éditions du spectacle « Autour de la guitare » ou encore avec Louis Winsberg « les 3 Afrique » • En Italie et au Québec avec Bob Brozman . • En Europe en compagnie de Peter Finger (Ger) fondateur du « The international guitar night » avec Michel Haumont (Fr) et Jacques Stotzem(Bel) Parallèlement à sa carrière d’artiste, SOLORAZAF a produit et réalisé plusieurs albums jugés essentiels par la presse spécialisée dans le parcours de la musique malgache : • « Fruits du Voyages » CD double (CHOC du Monde de la Musique), • « Souffles de Vie » Rakoto Frah (Flute sodina) • « Razilinah » par Erick Manana.
