I am 18 years old. Born 22nd January 1990, and started playing drums when I raided my mum's kitchen cupboard when I was 2 to find saucepans to play on. Since then it was a constant obssession with making drum kits out of plastic paint pots and playing them at church services. Aged 6, i recieved my first real drum kit. a junior sized CB percussion kit. Cut forward a few years, aged 13 i got sponsorship to help me purchase a brand new pearl export kit which I subsequently gigged and played on until residential situation forced me to put my drumming on the back shelf. It was then that I picked up guitar after inspiration from my mum's boyfriend Kev, who played these awesome political protest songs all the time. I spent about 3 weeks learning 3 chords as a kind of novelty 'thing that might be cool to do if the opportunity ever arose', and never really took it much further. After just jamming chords for a few other things for the next coule of months, the time came for Christmas 2004, I mentioned to family that I might want to save up for an electric guitar. I was torn between this (which I doubted I would take much interest in) and a nintendo gamecube (which I doubted would help me get laid).
I saved up my christmas money and went on down to norwich and bought a butterscotch squier affinity telecaster and 10 watt marshall practise amp. for about the first year of playing I never really took much of an interest apart from doing a few school concerts and stuff. It was then that I began to hear my high school music teacher at the time Ron Sayer jamming during lunch breaks in the high school practise rooms. I was kinda hooked on the sound and began experimenting with bluesy lead playing. After losing my ron sayer band gig virginity (Swanton Abbott Jolly Farmers) I made it my sole aim to form a band and play blues music. The evening I got home I wrote a couple of basic songs (watcha' doing, bring it back, worse anyway) and got together with some friends at school the following day during a lunch hour. nervously, we jammed through the songs. It was anarchic and slighty terrible, but something clicked. We named ourselves The Stoats, and gigged from that day on around norfolk, playing parties and small pubs as a blues band.
It was a bit of a blur between that lunch break and now recording my own album and doing all kinds of crazy stuff involving record labels, sponsors, boutique amps and the admiration thereof, because I honestly don't remember. I do remember at some point first hearing Brent Mason play guitar and then learning country style but that is pretty much about it.

Welcome to Young Blues Gunslingers. Thank you for the add Sol.
Wow! Killer guitar pickin'. I love Toad Rag. It brings out the country and Danny Gatton you have in your soul. And Chase the Sunset... what can I say except that sun must be moving real fast! Thanks for slowing things down with Preacher Man and Nineteen Days. I was wondering if Albert Lee has a place in your pantheon of guitar gods. He, and his band Hogan's Heroes, is touring all over Europe and England this summer and fall. Catch a concert if you can. He's one hellava picker.
