David “Buck” Sink - Drums / Vocals

Photobucket

Buck has been playing drums for about thirty years, and counts as major influences Charlie Watts, for the simplicity and longevity, Kenny Aronoff, for the classic driving rock beat, and Carter Beauford for technical complexity that allows the drum to emerge as not just a rhythm instrument, but as part of the melody. Solrevolt has provided a place for all these influences to emerge. Of course playing with friends that share the same concept is awesome. Come be a part of the solrevolt!

“Rick” Drewery - Guitar / Vocals

Photobucket

Rick enjoys all types of music from bluegrass to classical to heavy metal. He has been playing guitar the majority of his life, studying music throughout his school years. After a hiatus of several years due to obligations and other interest, Rick has returned to playing guitar with very talented friends and is having the time of his life. Rick likes to echo the words of the famous philosopher, Briscoe Darling, “if you got time to breathe, you’ve got time for music.”

Chad Sacra - Keyboard / Vocals

Photobucket

Chad began his musical interest as a child being whipped and tied to a piano bench. Took seven years of lessons before needing more out of "HIS" music. Strong influences came from harmonic vocal arrangements as well as a variety of artful keyboard impressionists. Chad began his professional career as a keyboardist in Hopewell, Virginia. Chad then went on to play country music in two separate groups who toured the Richmond, Petersburg, and Northern Virginia area for a few years. Chad left the Richmond area and took a stable job taking a break from music until gearing up with a local group in Roanoke Virginia. Now he is enjoying the return to his roots and having a great time with these musicians and friends.

Scott Neal - Lead Guitar / Vocals

Photobucket

Scott’s two greatest influences as a guitarist have always been Eric Clapton and Jerry Garcia. Clapton’s assimilated modernization of many classic blues players within his own playing style has always interested Scott, from a melodic standpoint as well as from the standpoint of paying homage to the bluesmen who birthed this great art form. Garcia, the yin to the proverbial yang, had always been too a guitar hero to Scott, who particularly enjoyed Garcia’s overall approach to the guitar as a blank canvas, with effective, artful improvisation and good old-fashioned jamming being a high priority. Scott has found a place among the very talented musicians within solrevolt, and as such, like minds and interests can be the groundwork for long friendships and tight musicianship.

Travis Barber - Bass

Photobucket

Travis started playing music in the 6th grade and has 8 years of experience playing in an orchestral and symphonic band setting along with marching band playing trumpet, tuba and his personal favorite the French horn. He has been playing the guitar since the 9th grade but his career as a bass player didn’t begin till after high school when he received a bass guitar as a gift from a family member. He has been plucking away ever since.

Joel Branscom - Blues Harp

When Joel first heard Bob Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks", he went out and bought a harmonica. His interest in the harmonica naturally took him to the blues and what has become a lifelong obsession with the music that gave birth to rock and roll. For twenty years, Joel played with various bands in the Roanoke area. After three years away from playing, Joel got a chance to sit in with Solrevolt. He was pleasently surprised when this established group of musicians asked him to stay.

Thanks, everyone, for coming out to Blue5, and for the B'day wishes. That was on time! We've got some pictures on the way (with several of the tattoo contest pics ommitted to protect the innocent). Good seeing you, Code11 Gents, and best to you. Coffee Pot's coming up, and it's going to be insane. Our drummer Buck will be doing some fire-eating and contortionism (sp?), while humming the theme songs to 80's television shows. We've got more live recorded music on the way for the site, so stay tuned. Thanks again, everyone, for coming out and making Blue5 a great night. Scott, Solrevolt Juice-Harpist.
