The SOMBRERO SOUND SYSTEM are the resident DJs for Sunday Best and Bestival... and they’re rather fond of large silly hats.
Jonny and Duncan have been throwing parties and generally larking about the London scene, and beyond, for years. Their search for the ultimate knees-up-mother-brown combined with their like-minded ear for a great tune, no matter what genre, led them to kick-start a succession of warehouse hoedowns in south London... and Sombrero was born.
The years since have seen their winning selections of party-orientated tune-age, selected on the fly from across the musical spectrum, rock dancefloor after dancefloor.
Recent highlights include playing to packed Bollywood Tents at Bestival 2006 and 2007, a packed Igloo (!!!) at Snowbombing 2007, the 2005/6 Bestival Lido Parties were a proper hoot and all the bi-monthly Sunday Best parties at the Lock Tavern in Camden have left them with huge smiles across their bristly chops.
They have also had the honour of playing at Snowbombing 2002/3/4/5/6/7, Glastonbury 2005, The Secret Garden Party Festival 2006, Beachbombing 2004/6, Homelands 2004, Ibiza 2003, Stick It On (Brighton) 2006/7, Bugged Out! 2004, Notting Hill Carnival 2004 and The Cathouse 2005/6… plus virtually every Sunday Best / Bestival party in the last 3 years.
