SOMERDALE formed from the smoldering ashes of THE SHAGS with a simple mission: to produce insanely catchy, head-bobbing, foot-stomping, fist-pumping, hook-laden, sing-a-long tunes.
SOMERDALE cleverly combines the gorgeous harmonies of The Beatles, the frenetic energy of The Who, the psychedelic aura of David Bowie, the slashing guitar rhythms of The Rolling Stones, the throbbing bass lines of KISS, and the unbridled joy of The Raspberries.
Reviewer: Scott Semet - The Atlantic City Press....The now-defunct Shags released a series of power-pop EPs in their native New Jersey that made them one of the hottest live acts in the Delaware valley concert circuit. Though the band has undergone a rebirth under a new name (Somerdale), all of the hooks, licks and tricks of their former identity are still present in this 'debut' full length LP. This is the type of album that deserves the to be on any Rock and Roll scholar's record shelf. It's a shame Compact Disc is the only format available, as "Friday Night in America" simply SCREAMS for a 180 gram vinyl pressing. Consider that our highest compliment, as these guys borrow some chops from the classics of the genre, instead of cashing in on the latest trendy craze. Check it out if you want some music that makes you feel good, instead of feeling depressed. Our highest recommendation! 5 Stars
