WOW. Where might one start....oh yeah, the beginning. Something To Ponder is a multi-headed beast that was spawned out of drinking, a kid who could freestyle and another kid who could play the guitar and hold half a tune. The Dream and Big C 's wife work together. The Conrads are notorious for their A-list as well as C-list parties. At one such party a long time ago, Chris got drunk enough to pick up the guitar while others were around. Strumming some random song that has been lost in the annals of STP lore, Carl inexplicably began rapping over it. On that fateful night, Something To Ponder was born. People loved it, asked to hear some more, so we made up some more songs and started covering the Notorious BIG and Digital Underground over an acoustic guitar. One party turned to the next and people were asking for the Dynamic Duo to play again.
After several parties we said to ourselves, "Selves, wouldn't it be cool to just start a band for fun?" To which we replied, "Yes, yes it would." "What should we call ourselves," followed our query to which Big C replied, "Hmmm, I don't know. That's something to ponder." Being two of the most utterly lazy and irresponsible people we know, we settled on that as the name of the band. We wrote a few tunes, practiced a little and started doing open mic nights. On our very first night, we finished a remarkably good set only to find out that the members of Long Beach Short Bus (former members of Sublime, sans the legendary and late Bradley Nowell) were in the crowd. Little did we know when we were singing "Smoke Two Joints" that two members of STP's most favorite group of all time were in the crowd. After some small talk and a few cocktails Chris and road manager Mongo were onstage playing ALL Sublime songs extremely inebriated and extremely unrehearsed. Later, Eric Wilson and the other members of Long Beach Short Bus had joined for an epic closing to the evening.
This was our first show and by our own estimation and measurement of karma, we decided to keep going. A few shows here and there and soon our first CD will be done. Much love to everyone that has stayed with us through this first year and we hope you continue to support Something To Ponder. And for those we're meeting for the first time, DAMN GLAD TO MEET YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something To Ponder ... Yo what up?!? Tired of 90% of the junk on the radio? You can now hear our killer mix of Funk-Rock Hip-Hop online. It's funky fun like Outkast Chili Peppers on serious energy like Rage and 30 Seconds to Mars ... but clearly NOT rehashed disco funk or anger rap metal. Today I realized that I ain’t no captain
The only thing I got our these words I be rappen
And dappen yogurt fists in strawberry bliss
With a paradox kiss hard times I miss
And yes I insist this music is bomb
Big C in San Fran no cause for alarm
I try to stay calm, keep summer in my palm
pray to my angels every Sunday at dawn
To remove that chip cause with a fresh lip
I could bring it all down sink the YG ship
and regress double dip on an Alice type trip
and leave my short life in strife just a blip
just a hic not a hop I gotta get up
gotta buck up, gotta fuck up
gotta succeed effort gotta bleed
can’t look back myself can’t deceive
just leave it on the court, in the office or stage
put it on yourself, dismantle your cage
that everyone has, just like STP
fuck Zanex this is my therapy
just like Big C, speaking out to the curtains
everything is fucked just when it is certain
and faith ain’t religion have faith in you,
just like JQ, Keebs, Ashley this crew
is through with the what if’s
last years track
start a charity happiness got to give back
And it’s not about that it’s all about you
pay attention to the snakes in the grass you crawl through –
And let us be the dead with this acoustic rap, you gotta “ig” the brain cause your heart is the map
Chris,
So good to hear from you!
Wow, Have fun in Mexico-sounds a lot more exciting than Des Moines for New Years!

what if one day, no sun rose from the east, sixth sense in play and u c the deceased
and thoughts be riddled like bullets into Sunny
Godfather so true ain't nothen funny
it's all about the money it clouds all of the what if's
what if I had no philly's, no joints no spliffs
would I still hook the riffs?
thank god for this track
thank god for Big C
thank god for the black, cause once upon a ryhme yo back in the day
Boston racsict minds built me this way
and it's allot to digest and it makes u think
about the people that we lost, long list in a blink
and shrink then give back, the opposite of hack
it ain't all about us, we got too much tack
and cats that passed, 2 fast to this day
watch out for us, from up above in every way
and stay for a while, Cherry coke and a smile
it's not written down, creative freestyle, and that's credibility, 'what if it's not?'
it's still STP, C squared stay hot, get shot or trapped in a felony or cancer,
the what if's man, just impossible to answer,
part of growing up is to have some regret,
c-rat keep it tight, that's a very good bet.
what if I.....?
what if we never met? I'll cop what we did. your a gem.
I'll miss u dearly dawg (big C), thank u for everything.
Thanks for the find!
Keep makin the great music!
If ya have time check out my other page for songwriters! Gena's Place On Myspace

Thanks for the add, sorry you couldn't make John's and My Bbq last friday. If ya'll lookin' to "drop some beats" and "bust some rhymes" again while downing burgers, wings, corn, and beer let us know, I think that would be more than reason enough to throw another bbq
