Something Distant was formed by vocalist/songwriter Jeff Congo. His career got started in Boston fronting the band "Last Week's Lies." Guided by his drive for musical chemistry, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida. It wasn't long before he met local singer/songwriter/producer Lu Rubino (Story Side B, Monkey the Fish, Flock of Seaguls). Lu produced some of the songs featured here on our mySpace website.
The current band lineup has several years of experience playing for well known national recording artists as well as local bands in the South East area. Wes Arvin- lead guitar- has had the honor of playing with Carlos Santana, and is mentioned on Carlos' website. "Arvin, Wesley
Jacksonville, FL, Times Union Center PAC, "Maggot Brain," May 3, - 1997," Jon Kretzer - Drums- has toured with a number of coutry artists including Faith Hill.

There are plenty of great venues in Gainesville! The best ones would probably be the Atlantic, or Backstage Lounge? Perhaps Common Grounds, 1982, or the Venue (very original name, that) as well. They're all downtown-ish, except Backstage Lounge, which is just south of downtown (and practically across the street from my apartment =D) I know a quick check of eventful. com gave me the names of a few places, and if you'd like to check them out I'd be happy to take you around town. Your tribute concert last weekend was awesome. I first heard your band on my friend's birthday last year at Sun Dog than you happened to be at Wild Wing Cafe on my birthday. Watching my team win and listening to you guys made for a fantastic b-day! I've been listening to your cd in my car all week.
