Sometimes Seven was born in 1994 in the town of Dyer, IN from the heart, hands and melodic gifts of songwriter-singer-guitarist Phil Avalos, drawing influences from bands like Superchunk, Teenage Fanclub, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr and The Lemonheads as much as Rick Springfield & The Cars. The band confused people and scared local bands because it wasn’t Grunge. For listeners the songs & melodies stuck like glue – it sounded fresh and original – a great Indie Style of Rock was born. The band thrived on positive press in hundreds of top fanzines. The band was on numerous indie compilations here and overseas. They received heavy college airplay (over 300 stations), and charting positions on CMJ. They opened for such acts as Spin Doctors, Sponge & The Outfield. The band and the drama expired in late 2002 with 4 full length cd's, 1 e.p., numerous unreleased recordings and & 5 official compilation submissions.

(RCR003 - Full Length CD) The Songs I Was Telling You About (2002 Round Circle) $8. Last official release of the band that was ready to conquer the radio waves...but damn the system! This cd had it all - huge pop sounds, excellent songwriting and studio precision! The songwriting ranged from Sport Rock Anthem "Let Go Rock 'N' Roll," Cartoon Theme Song "Planet Tracie," Acoustic Sensation "Headrest" and big sing-a-long live staples "It Has Just Been The Hardest Day, Stupid, Backpack Girlfriend & Little Dizzy."
(RCR002 - Full Length CD) Somehow You Just Don't Get It (2000 Round Circle) $8. All the reviewers can't be wrong. This is the return of 'Indie Geek Rock'! Go back to college and enjoy, no homework just rock!

(KID011 - Full Length CD) Static From The Blender... (1998 Kid Cadmium). Comparisons to early jangly R.E.M., Buffalo Tom, The Replacements, Bob Mould and the Lemonheads came out of positive reviews while the band got their first release on a fanzine-indie label afterwards. Catchy-Meloldic songs built on fiery treble galore with crappy-scratchy yet scrappy vocals. "Zero Royal, Watching An Air Raid, Sister Density, Breaking Strings, Real Change & Slowing Down" are some of the chestnuts here. Produced by Rick Kubic aka Johnny Kick. OUT-OF-PRINT.
(Full Length CD) Self-Titled 'The Green Disc' (1996 Phil Avalos). The band's raw debut. We all start somewhere and this was the band's starting line, a disc full of head bobbing songs, anti-glee club vocals and basic instincts. This release got us all our firsts - radioplay, zine reviews, shows, new drummer, shattered dreams, alcoholism, etc. "Every Expressway, Superclose, Mile High Anthem, I'll Break You, Page Mallard Surf Detective & Passed Out" appear here along side 1st time recordings of S7 staples "Blacktop, Little Dizzy & Call In Blue." Recorded on 4-track by Rick Kubic aka Johnny Kick, cigarettes & booze. OUT-OF-PRINT.
All Songs Written by Phil Avalos (c) 1994-2006, BMI.
