S7 is not just an aesthetic. It is not coherent of genre. It is a process applied to art. And it is also a powerful dream. The end result of the S7 process is a highly refined statement of meaning, emotion, energy, talent and thought. Each statement begins the process as an inspired idea. To transform the idea into a statement requires application of the process. The process begins by fleshing out lyrical, musical, rhythmic and tonal representations of the idea. These elements must then be sculpted together. During this part of the process the fundamentals of sound are analyzed and subjected to an entropic routine which requires analog and digital domain manipulations. This is the part of the process where custom electronics devices may be designed and constructed solely for manipulating a single facet of the sound sculpture. Sound samples may be recorded and edited down to the individual waveforms. Complex recording chains consisting of exotic combinations of processors and hardware are employed. These massive efforts are instrumental in defining a unique overall sound for the uniquely original ideas.
The final stage of the sculpting demands long hours in a trance-like state at the controls of an ancient machine. This legendary machine imprints the randomness of its analog soul on the sound in response to the user’s unconscious mind stream.
In the end, playback of the final statement will cause the inspiration of the original idea that began the process.
The process is demanding. It requires dedication and devotion. It needs focused and directed effort. It consumes. It devours. It regenerates.
The process is the result of a dream. Actually a sequence of seven dreams over the span of seven days. The dream sequence permanently altered the thought processes and memory structures of one human mind. The patterns etched into that mind influenced modes of behavior and ideation expressed through S7 as sonic radiation.
Let your mind be exposed to it.
