Biography: 'SOMNOLENT' band was founded by Konstatntin and Alexey in autumn of 2006 in Odessa (Ukraine). Later the band joined Dmitriy (bass), Nikolay (guitars), Yuriy (drums).
First official rehearsal took place in the 1st of December 2006 in Odessa with the next line-up:
Alexey – vocals,
Konstantin – guitars,
Nikolay – guitars,
Yuriy – drums.
Some days after the band joined new bass-guitarist Eugeniy joined the band and the regular rehearsals started. The style of the band could be defined as funeral death/doom. In winter of 2007 some songs were ready, and the most part of them entered an album 'Monochromes Philosophy'.
In 2007 joined some gigs in the cities of Ukraine: Odessa, Cherkassy, Illichevsk (Metal Special Fest IX), Kiev (Doom Over Kiev Fest I) and began recording new album in the 12th of December. During the recording SOMNOLENT temporary ended concert activity and worked at 'QS&BA' studio in Odessa, and worked under new conceptual material, which would enter the second album. In the 28th of May 2008 the recording of the debut album is finished. It is named 'Monochromes Philosophy'. The band concluded a contract with Russian label 'Solitude Prod.'.
In July 'SOMNOLENT' joined 'Dooms Day Debris Fest' in Chernigiv. Some time after Eugeniy was excluded from the band and new bass-guitarist Alexandr replaced him. With renewed line-up the band played on 'Doom Over Kiev Fest II' (Kiev) at the one stage with Draconian (Sweden).
Music style has changed. Now it’s experimental doom metal, that combined such music genres as funeral doom, slow jazz, art rock.
Nowadays 'SOMNOLENT' is preparing for new concerts and is working under composing the second album.
