UPCOMING: 2CD deluxe edition of the Sonar Lodge debut album 'Sound Effects' plus 'Side Effects'; a bonus CD with rarities. To be released this autumn.
Since 1997, SONAR LODGE released six 12" ep's and two albums. They can be found on various compilations, and remixed artists like Aardvarck and Sandor Caron. They toured Germany with London Elektricity in 2003 (Gauloises Cookin' Blue Tour) and worked with many top artists. SONAR LODGE have shifted over the years from drum 'n' bass and triphop to a more cinematic, nu-jazzy sound, maintaining their trademark gloomy atmospheres. Their songs have been remixed by renowned producers like Domu, Attica Blues, Relaxo Abstracto and others.
From 2005 onward, Richard and Marie-Claudine concentrated on their other projects: MUSIC FOR SPEAKERS AMPLIFIED and STRANGE ATTRACTOR (with Niels van Hoorn), with whom they regularly tour through Europe. Strange Attractor's albums feature underground heroes like DAVID J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), WINSTON TONG (Tuxedomoon), GRAHAM LEWIS (Wire), PETER 'SLEAZY' CHRISTOPHERSON (Throbbing Gristle, Coil) and many more.
Richard also plays in the eclectic group PHALLUS DEI, with whom he has just completed a soundtrack to the German feature film 'Sommertag', as well as a new album featuring JOHN WALKER (The Walker Brothers) entitled 'A Day In The Life Of Brian Wilson' (to be released in 2009).
Both Marie-Claudine and Richard have recently released a CD, highlighting their input in several acts from the Music for Speakers label: resp. entitled "ZINGZANG" and "PLUGITIN".
Take the sound of "Rockit" era Herbie Hancock, add a dash of Blade Runner, a tip of the hat towards Drexciya and a hint of early industrial and you've got "Bypass The Body". OUT NOW on the finest digital stores and distributed worldwide by CLONE.
"Again As Phantoms (Pts. I & II)" leads things off and shows off outstanding songwriting skills and a mature palate of sounds. Biepang took a quick look in the rear-view mirror for inspiration before moving light years ahead with this one.
"Bypass The Body" Beyond the next level! Development between the bassline and the chord voicings is magic. The breakdown will make you shiver before the TWISTED wind up at the end.
"Deviant Personnel" This one is definitely from the wrong side of the tracks. Dark, mutated funk from beneath the waves.
"Neon Parallels" Heady, scintillating, synth-jazz from the new-school mastermind.
"Neon Parallels" is AMAZING! It made my iPod, which is reserved only for choice all time tracks that I love (mostly Jazz). VERY few Electro tracks on there! - Cozmo D (Newcleus)
"This EP reminds me of REAL electro in the early '80's. Tight and cool production. Enjoyed it a lot!" 4/5 -- Ken Ishii
"Great atmospheric track! Radio & club play." 5/5 -- Jori Hulkkonen
Cheers! So I remember, I still have to check out the new Strange Attractor album. Niels told me about it in Berlin. I saw him in September with the Pink Dots. Best wishes ChristiaN
