British-American sister act from Colorado, The Sonflowerz, have just experienced their most successful year yet. In August of 2007, the act won first place in the Vocal Duo competition and won Best Over-All Vocal Group at the 33rd annual GMA Music in the Rockies. With the release of their 3rd studio album, “All Over The World”, in May 2008, their singles “My Adoration” and “Edge Of My Seat” became smash hits, rising to the top of Christian charts and being played on over 400 radio stations.
The Sonflowerz began in 1999 when Elissa Leander began writing original worship songs at the age of 14. Encouraged by her youth pastor to form a band with her sister, Becca, they began performing at various venues across Colorado. The act’s first album, You Remain, and single, Crazy Love, were released in 2002. Their sophomore effort, Alive in You, was released in 2005.
The Sonflowerz have shared the stage with artists such as Third Day, BarlowGirl, Phil Wickham, Sanctus Real, Jeremy Camp and Needtobreathe. For women's conferences they have worked with authors such as Lisa Bevere and Vicki Courtney.
Their hopes for ministry extend beyond the U.S., and they've taken their music to Europe on numerous tours. Their singles, “Edge Of My Seat”, “All Over The World”, and “My Adoration” have all hit 1 on the NCM European Christian music chart.
6-time Dove Award-winner Don Koch produced their new record, “All Over The World”. “When I first met The Sonflowerz, I was taken back by how transparent their hearts are,” Koch said. “I could easily see Christ in them. Their passion for family, for ministry, and their love for singing came shining through.” The album was picked up by Provident Distribution in the U.S. December 2008. Internationally, The Sonflowerz music has been distributed through Integrity Europe Distribution. Their first singles “My Adoration” and “Edge of My Seat” climbed to the top of Inspirational and Independent radio charts in the U.S. In November 2008, “Edge Of My Seat” won the grand prize award from OurStage.com by receiving the highest number of votes for any song in all 56 genres, including the Christian genre.
The title track was featured as the theme song of the ABC Family TV Series, “One Good Turn With Joey T.” The Series was launched by Conrad Ricketts, the Co-Creator and Executive Producer of the Emmy Award winning television series: Extreme Makeover Home Edition, along with Rick Bieber Producer/Director and the former President of HBO.
