The SongDogs are a band based in Berlin and were founded in 1996. The band is named after the Irish novel by Colum McCann. The band's original style is influenced by the eclectic musical backgrounds within the group. Combined, their sound is a fusion of Folk, Rock, Blues and Alternative Country Music.
The SongDogs self-produced CD "Hometown Queens and Bus Stops" (2006) was well received in Germany, especially on the Country Music scene. In addition to the good reviews they were one of four nominated bands for the 'German Country Music Promotion Award' in 2007. Having reached the final stage of the awards, the judges concluded: "Excellent Americana, but not 'Country' enough for this Country-Music Award". The SongDogs agreed. The band extends far beyond this one classification of "Country Music". Expanding their sound even more, the SongDogs were joined by American fiddle player Dirk Ronneburg towards the end of 2007.

Die SongDogs sind eine Berliner Band, die sich 1996 gegründet und nach dem Roman des Iren Colum McCann - mit dem deutschen Titel "Gesang der Kojoten" - benannt hat. Sie hat sich der handgemachten Musik verschrieben und vereinigt ihre unterschiedlichen Einflüsse zu einer eigenen Mischung im Grenzbereich zwischen Folk, Rock, Blues und Alternative Country. Mit ihrer selbstproduzierten CD "Hometown Queens & Bus Stops" haben die SongDogs 2006 in Deutschland positiv auf sich aufmerksam gemacht, ganz besonders in der Country Music Szene. Neben den guten Kritiken und Rezensionen wurden sie als eine von vier Bands für das Finale des
Country Music Förderpreises 2007 nominiert. Nach den Auftritten der Final-Tour war die Meinung der Jury "exzellente Americana-Musik, aber nicht Country genug für diesen Country-Music Preis“. Bestätigt, nicht in diese eine Schublade zu passen, haben sich die SongDogs um den gerade aus Amerika nach Berlin gekommenen Geiger Dirk Ronneburg erweitert und arbeiteten an neuen Liedern.
Wie sich der Bandsound dadurch entwickelt hat, kann auf dem neuen Meilenstein der SongDogs, dem aktuellen Album "Restless No More" gehört werden...

Hello, after an unfortunate hiatus, the reasons for which are probably best not gone into here, we finally have some new music on the AUK MySpace site. For your listening pleasure this month we offer Nathan Oliver, Conrad Ford, the irrepressible Todd Snider and the delightful Beccy Owen.
