Add life and sparkle to your next dinner, reception, gallery opening,
English country dance, or contra dance!
Our name “Cantabile” means “singing” or “songlike.”
It comes from the Italian musical direction, and is pronounced “cahn-TAH-bee-lay.”
An elegant, vivacious quartet, we play flute, violin/fiddle, tinwhistle(Irish whistle, pennywhistle), hammered dulcimer, 5-string cello, bodhran, accordion, and piano.
For many years, our members have been delighting audiences and dancers throughout the Greater Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware, Washington D.C., and neighboring areas, for Princeton dances, the Germantown Country Dancers, SPUDS, Glen Echo, and other venues. We are now combining our talents into an ensemble that spans many genres and enhances many kinds of events.
Community dances with rousing dance tunes, along with sophisticated waltzes and other couple dances.
Elegant receptions and gala events with classical chamber music.
House concerts and dinner parties with songs, airs, and spirited traditional tune medleys.
Historic and themed events
such as St. Patrick’s Day and Colonial celebrations.
Dance caller available.
In 2007 and 2008 our performances included dances for the Glenside contra series, Lansdowne Friends School, Princeton Country Dancers, Valley Contra Dance, and the Germantown Country Dancers, as well as Christmas and other holiday services, restaurant and community center concerts, and an ongoing house concert series.
