WHO:WHAT:WHERE:WHEN:HOW:WHY
Who sings with SOA? Song of Atlanta is made up of women from all over the metro-Atlanta area. We even have members that travel from Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina to rehearse/perform with us. We are executives and stay-at-home moms, students and teachers, mothers, daughters, and sisters-in-harmony. We are diverse in our talents and skills, and singular in our love for singing, making beautiful music, and entertaining our audiences!
What kind of music does SOA sing? Song of Atlanta sings a cappella, which means we do not use any instrumental backup. We sing an american style of a cappella, barbershop, and we are proud members of Sweet Adelines International. We compete with other Sweet Adeline choruses, and our singing, energy, music, and choreography (yes, we dance, too!) continually earn us a place among the top singing organizations in the world.
Where can I hear SOA? Check out our calendar here on myspace, or go to our website – www.songofatlanta.com – to see more info on our upcoming shows/cabarets/appearances in the Atlanta area, and even across the US and in Canada.
When does SOA rehearse? Song of Atlanta rehearses weekly, on Tuesday nights from 7:30 to 10:30pm at Holy Family Catholic Church on Lower Roswell Road in Marietta, GA. All of our rehearsals are open to the public, so if you’re interested in learning more about us, what better way than to come hear us in person?
How can I become a member of SOA? We love our visitors – and you can come to just listen, or come and give us a try! We’ll voice-place you and find a spot for you to sing in… If you get hooked (like we did!) then, after a few weeks, you’ll go through our audition process – it’s that easy!
Why is SOA different from other singing groups? We are dynamic. We are vocally dynamic – we showcase many styles of a cappella harmony, from jazz, standards, sacred, patriotic, pop, and more. We are visually dynamic – we are well known for our innovative style and creativity. We strive for excellence. We continually attend educational events, and bring in coaches from all over North America to keep our skills improving, and help our members sing their best. We teach each other, and learn together. We laugh and cry together, and forge friendships that will last a lifetime. We are sisters in song.
