Update on the Rant:
Despite never fully weaning ourselves from this website, our rant about the importance of real communication (you know, the old-fashioned kind - letters, phone calls, face-to-face conversations) had some positive and exciting results. We received some real, hand-written fan mail, which we proudly carry with us wherever we go, proving that a letter really is worth a thousand myspace comments. And our friends started calling us again instead of waiting for us to read their bulletins. That was nice.
